This album is special because it captures The Eagles in their prime in terms of live performance and studio production. All four of the new studio tracks have their signature meticulousness and lyrical maturity of old, but the sophisticated and slick production give them a larger-than-life, ethereal sound that their 70s recordings often only got close to. Also, the improved quality of live recording equipment, combined with The Eagles themselves (by now even more experienced and accordingly seasoned as musicians) playing stone-cold sober, makes for one of the best live performances to ever be recorded and released. Highly recommended for both Eagles fans and fans of good live recordings. If you are looking you know this record and you know that it’s difficult to find. Everything is in great condition visually, but I want to share a caveat. This is a somewhat noisy pressing. I don’t mean the nicks and pops present on all vinyl. There’s just surface noise that’s audible during the lead-in and run-out grooves, and in between the new studio recordings on side A. That’s the way it was when I first unsealed it. The vinyl is shiny and new looking with no visible marks or scratches. Maybe a good record cleaner would help (all I have is a Spin Clean, and I don’t use it on new records).
