BEATLES 2ND STATE PASTE OVER, 3RD STATE BUTCHER ALBUMS, AND RECORDS IN ONE PROFESSIONAL FRAME. Both records are included with one being displayed. These are the holy grail of Beatles albums, highly collectible and very rare, released in 1966. The album is titled “Yesterday and Today”. The album is remembered primarily for the controversy surrounding its original cover image, the “Butcher Cover” featuring the band dressed in white smocks and covered with decapitated baby dolls and pieces of meat. However, faced with so many jackets already printed, Capitol decided to paste a much more conventional cover over the old one which featured the band posing around an open steamer trunk so called the “Trunk Cover”. On the trunk album cover, known as 2nd state paste over, Ringo’s turtle neck sweater can be seen under the trunk cover which validates it as an original paste over cover. Fans would later peel the cover away to reveal the original butcher cover underneath, known as the 3rd state peeled butcher cover. Both records are mono and inner sleeves are included. Frame is black with a dark green outer mat with a white inner mat with museum grade UV glass. It is very heavy and substantial with wire reinforcement in the back and hanging wire.
