Northern Soul Grail Willie Hutch The Duck / Love Runs Out Promo 1965
November 10, 2021 by admin
“The Duck / Love Runs Out”. Monster Northern Soul grail in fab condition. Here’s the scoop: before either of us were born, my husband’s father bought a big box of random records at a block party in the suburbs of Pennsylvania, USA. Those records, many of them white label promos with DJ stickers and “X” written on them in China marker, came from a radio station. My hubby’s dad bought it in around 1967; my husband’s been carting it and the others around since the late 1980s, and, a few nights ago, we put the needle on this one, for maybe the first time since 1965. Plays VG+ to high VG+ on both sides. Punchy, crazy cool mastering. This one is, no joke, a religious experience if you dig Northern soul. There are just a couple light pops and a little bit of surface noise on the run-out of Love Runs Out. ” “The Duck has a few tiny tiny pops, but basically very high VG+. Visually graded, vinyl is high VG+ on “The Duck” with just some very very light smudges. “Love Runs Out” is a low VG+ with a few more pronounced smudges, but really, this is gorgeous on the vinyl. Labels do have some wear, some discoloration and sticker residue on both. This is a crazy rare record but it’s so so so good. Records are graded using very strict. Please check out our other auctions of rare, desirable, and high end vinyl and like us on Facebook (Dramagirlwithlime). Thanks for your business! Absolutely perfect in every way. Certainly never been played, possibly even still sealed. (More on still sealed under “Other Considerations”). Should be used sparingly as a grade, If at all. Near Mint (NM or M-). A nearly perfect record. Many dealers won’t give a grade higher than this implying (perhaps correctly)that no record is ever truly perfect. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. An LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable similar defects. No cut-out holes, either. And of course, the same should be true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves and the like. Basically, an LP in near mint condition looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink wrap. Near Mint is the highest price listed in all Goldmine price guides. Very Good Plus (VG+). Generally worth 50 percent of the Near Mint value. A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don’t affect one’s listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are “OK”. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play. Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. In general, if not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint. All but the most mint-crazy collectors will find a Very Good Plus record highly acceptable. Generally worth 25 percent of Near Mint value. Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song’s intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them. Goldmine price guides with more than one price will list Very Good as the lowest price. This, not the Near Mint price, should be your guide when determining how much a record is worth, as that is the price a dealer will normally pay you for a Near Mint record. Good (G), Good Plus (G+). Generally worth 10-15 percent of the Near Mint value. Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear (on a styrene record, the groove will be starting to turn white). A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object. It is a common item, you’ll probably find another copy in better shape eventually. But, if it’s something you have been seeking for years, and the price is right, get it… But keep looking to upgrade. Poor (P), Fair (F). Generally worth 0-5 percent of the Near Mint price. The record is cracked, badly warped, and won’t play through without skipping or repeating. The picture sleeve is water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP cover barely keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves are fully seam split, crinkled, and written upon. The item “Northern Soul Grail Willie Hutch The Duck / Love Runs Out Promo 1965″ is in sale since Thursday, November 4, 2021. Blind Willie McTell Vocalion 02668 My Baby’s Gone/Weary Hearted Blues 78 RPM
May 5, 2019 by admin
Here’s a rare chance to get a Blind Willie McTell on Vocalion. I’ll be honest in saying that I really have a lot of trouble letting this go, and that it’s one of the best records that has ever passed through my hands, but that I simply cannot afford to keep a record this expensive, at this point. This does not mean I’m desperate, however. Don’t get the wrong idea, as some seem to. Before I get into it, I’ll mention the dig in the middle of side A that I mentioned “sometimes skips” before this edit. At the time, the tracking force on my tonearm was really light because I have a proper cartridge (like you should when you’re dealing with discs of this caliber), but I didn’t bother to adjust it because I never needed to with anything else. But I turned it up a tad, and tested that part a few times, and had zero trouble. As far as other defects, there’s some stripping on the grooves, there’s some blasting, and the pressing quality itself is pretty standard for 1933 (Depression-era blues recording could be sort of rough, even when newly pressed), but all things considered, it’s a pretty good record… And you’ll probably never find another copy of this for a good 10 to 25 years (that’s if you’re looking all that time), and perhaps not above V, either. So if you’re wanting it, consider that this might be the last opportunity you’ll have. I don’t have any sort of equipment to record as of yet, but I would like to get a recording for the convenience of any potential buyers. If I still haven’t done it when you see this, you have a serious interest in this record, and that recording might be a tipping point, then shoot me a message and I’ll double down on getting it for you. As new and unplayed (there are virtually no 78s that can categorically be claimed to be unplayed). Nearly Mint, but has been played. No visible signs of wear or damage. Still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches. Still shiny but without the lustre of a new record, few light scratches. An average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced. Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive. Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy greying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level. Grey throughout but still serviceable. Music begins to sound muffled. Quite seriously worn and scratched, but music level is still higher than surface noise. Music still prominent, but wear and scratch damage extensive. Most of music remains audible over surface noise, but listening now uncomfortable. The item “Blind Willie McTell Vocalion 02668 My Baby’s Gone/Weary Hearted Blues 78 RPM” is in sale since Wednesday, October 24, 2018. This item is in the category “Music\Records”. Rare Willie Nelson Nite Life 7 Rx Records Vinyl And Then I Wrote Paul Buskirk
May 24, 2017 by admin
Extremely RARE – DJ Promo Copy – Paul Buskirk And His Little Men Featuring Hugh Nelson (Willie Nelson) After his son Billy was born in 1958, struggling with financial issues, Nelson moved to Houston. On the way, Nelson stopped by the Esquire Ballroom to sell songs to house band singer Larry Butler. [1] Nelson rented the apartment near Houston in Pasadena, Texas, where he also worked at the radio station as a DJ. During the same time, Nelson recorded for Pappy Daily of D Records. While working on the club, Nelson used the time of the thirty-mile travel from his home to the club to write songs. One night he was inspired to start the song after thinking the line When the evening sun goes down, you will find me hanging’round. ” Nelson’s inspiration was completed on his way back, with the line “The night life ain’t no good life, but it’s my life. [3] Produced by Bill Quinn, Nelson recorded the song at Gold Star Studios. The session band was composed of guitarist Buskirk, bassist Dean Reynolds, drummer Al Hagy, pianist Bob Whitford, steel guitarist Herb Remington, and Dick Shannon on saxophone and vibraphone. [4] The recording of the song was turned down by Pappy Daily, who did not consider the song country. Daily threatened Nelson to sue him if he pressed the song. [3] Nelson and Buskirk took the tape from Gold Star Studios, and went to Bill Holford’s ACA Studios to master the recording. [5] The song was recorded as “Nite Life”, and the artist labeled under “Paul Buskirk and the Little Men featuring Hugh Nelson”. [3] Released through Rx Records, few copies of the single were pressed, [5] while it received limited airplay by DJ Uncle Hank Craig on XEG. The item “Rare Willie Nelson Nite Life 7 Rx Records Vinyl And Then I Wrote Paul Buskirk” is in sale since Saturday, May 20, 2017. This item is in the category “Music\Records”.
