Eagles The Long Run Limited Edition UltraDisc One-Step 45 rpm Vinyl 2LP Box Set
April 5, 2024 by admin
Eagles Predict Their Staying Power with The Long Run: Mobile Fidelity’s UltraDisc One-Step 180g 45RPM 2LP Box Set Is Sourced from the Original Analog Master Tapes and Pressed at RTI on MoFi SuperVinyl Seven-Times-Platinum Smash Stood as Band’s Last Studio Record for More Than 25 Years: Includes “Heartache Tonight, ” “I Can’t Tell You Why, ” “In the City, ” and the Title Track 1/4 / 15 IPS analog master to DSD 256 to analog console to lathe Originally intended as a clever poke at the era’s trends that critics maintained were making the band irrelevant, the title of and music on The Long Run continue to prove the Eagles got the last laugh. Created in the wake of the group’s demanding tour for the blockbuster Hotel California, the 1979 record ultimately became the final record the Eagles would create for nearly three decades. Stacked with first-rate material and three mammoth singles, the seven-times-platinum effort ensured the Eagles never drifted far from the public’s consciousness. Sourced from the original analog master tapes, pressed on MoFi SuperVinyl, and limited to 10,000 copies, Mobile Fidelity’s UltraDisc One-Step 180g 45RPM 2LP vinyl box set presents The Long Run in unparalleled sound. Akin to the audiophile label’s prior Eagles UD1S sets, this collectible edition plays with extreme clarity, organic richness, tube-like warmth, spectacular dynamics, and microscopic levels of detail. Songs come across with an epic sweep and feature front-to-back soundstages that give the music unprecedented air, roominess, and separation. As for the noise floor? Though the Eagles are renowned for great-sounding albums, The Long Run might be the most note-perfect work in their catalog – the result of more than 18 months of painstaking recording sessions. This UD1S version demonstrates why. The placement of the rounded bass lines, extension of the piano accents, and golden tones of the blended harmonies are constantly identifiable and practically take you inside the arrangements. Complementing the gorgeous sonics, the premium packaging of the UD1S The Long Run pressing befits its esteemed status. The deluxe box features foil-stamped jackets and faithful-to-the-original graphics that illuminate the splendor of the recording. This UD1S reissue exists as a curatorial artifact meant to be preserved, touched, and examined. It is made for discerning listeners who prize sound quality and production, and who desire to fully immerse themselves in everything involved with the album, including the artwork. Intentionally simple, the cover is designed by John Kosh, who devised the art for the Beatles’ Abbey Road and The Who’s Who’s Next. The stark black-and-gray color palette speaks to the exhaustion the band was feeling at the time – as well as the malaise conveyed in several songs. Kosh’s creation also can be seen to reflect a gravestone, and though the Eagles would fall dormant for more than two decades, the tombstone interpretation is line with the tongue-in-cheek nature of the album title: The Eagles would return and outlast a majority of their lesser contemporaries and joyless critics. Who is gonna make it? /We’ll find out in the long run, posits Don Henley on the album’s opening track, an R&B-fueled classic that reached No. 8 on the charts. Henley later addressed the irony of the lyrics; his group was in the process of breaking apart when he wrote it. Yet the singer-songwriter and colleague Glenn Frey clearly knew something others failed to recognize. Related themes of survival, resilience, and dark humor course throughout The Long Run, which also marks the arrival of bassist Timothy B. His lead vocal anchors the No. 8 hit “I Can’t Tell You Why, ” a staple he co-wrote with Henley and Frey. That dynamic duo has a hand in all but one of the songs, “In the City, ” Joe Walsh’s slide-guitar-appointed ode to endurance. Walsh also shares a writing credit on the closing “The Sad Cafe, ” a melodramatic favorite whose lineage extends to another of the band’s longtime collaborators, J. He, along with Frey and Henley, teamed with Detroit legend Bob Seger on penning the record’s signature anthem: the Grammy-winning Heartache Tonight. The challenges and pressures associated with making The Long Run after dealing with the unimaginable success of Hotel California ended up grounding the Eagles. Yet the album’s enduring merit, performances, and melodies confirmed Henley and Frey’s beliefs. The Eagles are still thriving. The long run continues. More About Mobile Fidelity UltraDisc One-Step and Why It Is Superior Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab’s UltraDisc One-Step (UD1S) technique bypasses generational losses inherent to the traditional three-step plating process by removing two steps: the production of father and mother plates, which are created to yield numerous stampers from each lacquer that is cut. For UD1S plating, stampers (also called “converts”) are made directly from the lacquers. Since each lacquer yields only one stamper, multiple lacquers need to be cut. Mobile Fidelity’s UD1S process produces a final LP with the lowest-possible noise floor. The removal of two steps of the plating process also reveals musical details and dynamics that would otherwise be lost due to the standard multi-step process. With UD1S, every aspect of vinyl production is optimized to produce the best-sounding vinyl album available today. MoFi SuperVinyl Developed by NEOTECH and RTI, MoFi SuperVinyl is the most exacting-to-specification vinyl compound ever devised. Analog lovers have never seen (or heard) anything like it. Extraordinarily expensive and extremely painstaking to produce, the special proprietary compound addresses two specific areas of improvement: noise floor reduction and enhanced groove definition. The vinyl composition features a new carbonless dye (hold the disc up to the light and see) and produces the world’s quietest surfaces. This high-definition formula also allows for the creation of cleaner grooves that are virtually indistinguishable from the original lacquer. MoFi SuperVinyl provides the closest approximation of what the label’s engineers hear in the mastering lab. Artist / The Eagles. Label / Mobile Fidelity. Genre /? Pop / Rock.

Joni Mitchell Blue Limited Edition UltraDisc One-Step 45 rpm Vinyl 2LP Box Set
March 19, 2024 by admin
The Joni Mitchell Record That Forever Changed the Music and Cultural Landscapes. Is Considered One of the 10 Greatest Albums of All Time. 1971 Landmark Reaches New Audiophile Heights on Mobile Fidelity’s UltraDisc One-Step 180g 45RPM 2LP Box Set: Limited to 12,000 Numbered Copies, Includes New Liner Notes. 1/4 / 15 IPS Dolby A analog master to DSD 256 to analog console to lathe. Of the countless accolades and analyses that surround. No point is more significant than the fact that the 1971 Joni Mitchell album continues to become more popular, revered, referenced, and relevant with each passing day. Such vitality is not only extremely singular; it is the ultimate measure of great art and, in the context of. Indisputable proof of the record’s accessibility, integrity, and timelessness. If the most brilliant and everlasting music seeks to find truths shared by all of humanity. Can be said to be universal doctrine. Sourced from the original analog master tapes, pressed at RTI on MoFi SuperVinyl, featuring new in-depth liner notes, and strictly limited to 12,000 numbered copies, Mobile Fidelity’s UltraDisc One-Step 180g 45RPM 2LP box set presents the landmark album with reference-grade detail, tonality, and directness. Marking the first time the beloved LP has received audiophile-quality treatment, it’s one of six iconic Mitchell records Mobile Fidelity is reissuing on definitive-sounding vinyl and SACD sets. Sounds more intimate, involving, and inescapable on this transparent pressing, which benefits from a virtually nonexistent noise floor and superior groove definition. Mitchell’s voice, positioned front and center, and primarily accompanied by minimalist acoustic guitar, piano, and dulcimer playing, comes across clearly and prominently. Suspended notes and radiant chords double as question marks, commas, and phrases. The in-the-room presence and spatial dimensionality make absolute the full-range spectrum of introspective emotions – hurt and distress, self-awareness and joy, difficulty and uncertainty, warmth and desire – Mitchell navigates, queries, and contemplates throughout the record. The defenselessness the singer once spoke about is laid bare here like never before. The packaging of the. UD1S set complements its distinguished status. Housed in a deluxe slipcase, both LPs come in special foil-stamped jackets with faithful-to-the-original graphics that illuminate the splendor of the recording. This UD1S reissue exists as a curatorial artifact made for listeners who prize sound quality and production, and who desire to engage themselves in everything involved with the album, including the unforgettable cover photograph of a ruminative Mitchell shot by Tim Considine. Deemed the third Greatest Album of All Time by. Universally celebrated by critics, fans, artists, and educators; and defined by a spell of disarmingly vulnerable songs that are at once confessional, intense, spare, honest, painful, hopeful, and exquisite. Charts love, spiritualism, independence, and loss like no record before or since. Widely considered the album that established the singer-songwriter template, the largely autobiographical LP changed everything shortly after its original release in June 1971. Amazingly, it continues to do so more than five decades later. An incalculable influence on generations of artists, it stands as the through-line from Carole King, Elton John, James Taylor, Joan Armatrading, and Leonard Cohen to Patti Smith, Carly Simon, Emmylou Harris, and Rosanne Cash to 21st century contemporaries like Brandi Carlile, Taylor Swift, Sharon Van Etten, and Courtney Barnett. Teetering between agony and optimism, it is – to borrow a phrase from Mitchell’s eternal “A Case of You” – a bottomless box of paints. The beauty of the stripped-down arrangements, intoxicating melodies, and Mitchell’s wisdom on. Didn’t go unnoticed. Critical acclaim, coupled with the depth of the material and Mitchell’s reputation, propelled the album into the Top 20 in the U. And Top 10 in the U. Yet while so much pop music diminishes with age. Has defied norms and headed in the opposite direction. Its 50th anniversary year witnessed an outpouring of tributes, reflections, and testimonials that helped frame the record’s escalating importance and symbolism – apt in an age in which women have become the prominent trailblazers in rock, R&B, and hip-hop. Perhaps most succinctly, in a 2021 article celebrating the LP, the. Declared: In 1971, nothing sounded like Joni Mitchell’s. 50 years later, it’s still a miracle. Partially owes to a divine agent or inexplicable circumstance. And though Mitchell’s bracing conviction and forthright sincerity can appear otherworldly, her musical approach and lyrical storytelling is nothing if not personal and human. What we hear is pure truth – no matter how aching, complicated, or stark. Much has been written about the circumstances that inspired the songs on. Mitchell’s romances; her time overseas; her disdain for celebrity; her lingering sense of loss at having given up her daughter for adoption; her treatment by the very same industry that her music made uncomfortable; her prolonged search for resolution. These situations and experiences pushed Mitchell to question everything – especially big-picture concepts that have always obsessed mankind: fulfillment, autonomy, love, honesty, being. “I wanna make you feel free, ” Mitchell sings on the record-opening All I Want. Is liberation – and the start of a freedom that continues to impact music, culture, and identity today. Format / Box Set. Artist / Joni Mitchell. Label / Mobile Fidelity. Genre / Pop / Rock.

Donald Fagen The Nightfly MFSL Mobile Fidelity One-Step 45RPM Sealed #387/6000
October 25, 2017 by admin
Very Low Numbered Copy. Mastered from the Original Master Tapes with Mobile Fidelity’s One-Step Process: The Nightfly UD1S 45RPM Box Set Is the Ultimate Analog Version of Donald Fagen’s 1982 Landmark Debut. Lavish Packaging Includes Opulent Box and Special Foil-Stamped Jackets: Deluxe Audiophile Pressing Strictly Limited to 6000 Numbered Copies (Limit Two Per Customer). Cinema for the Ears: The Nightly Remains One of the Best-Sounding Albums Ever Made with Reference Production, Standout Playing, and Jazz-Like Arrangements That Embody Timeless Cool. Donald Fagen’s largely autobiographical The Nightfly remains one of the best-sounding albums ever made. Revered by audiophiles, the Steely Dan co-founder’s 1982 set immediately became a demonstration disc at audio salons and hi-fi shows the world over. It also quickly emerged as an irreplaceable monitor-evaluating tool for recording-studio engineers and front-of-the-house testing device for concert-venue soundboard engineers who continue to use it today. Painstakingly recorded over eight months by producer Gary Katz and engineers Roger Nichols and Elliot Scheiner, The Nightfly endures as a rare trifecta of superlative performance, consummate songwriting, and crisp, benchmark production. Mobile Fidelity is honored to give this seminal effort unsurpassed treatment befitting the most serious music connoisseurs. Fagen’s solo debut reaches three-dimensional sonic and emotional heights never before attained on Mobile Fidelity’s opulent UD1S (UltraDisc One-Step) box set. Strictly limited to 6,000 numbered copies, this ultra-hi-fi collector’s edition literally and figuratively brings you closer to music that picks up where Steely Dan’s Gaucho leaves off. You’ll enjoy deep-black backgrounds, boundless soundstaging, pointillist details, staggering dynamics, and arguably, the most lifelike tonalities and nuances ever committed to vinyl. Experienced via UD1S, The Nightfly places Fagen and his session pros in your listening room. Every note, breath, and movement is reproduced with exquisite accuracy, wowing clarity, and impeccable balance. Consider this edition your new go-to reference. The lavish packaging and beautiful presentation of Mobile Fidelity’s The Nightfly pressing befit its extremely select status. Housed in a deluxe box, this UD1S version contains special foil-stamped jackets and faithful-to-the-original graphics that illuminate the splendor of the recording. No expense has been spared. Aurally and visually, this reissue of The Nightfly is a curatorial artifact meant to be preserved, poured over, touched, and examined. It is made for discerning listeners that prize sound quality and creativity, and who desire to fully immerse themselves in the art and everything involved with the album, from the images to the textures and liner notes. Nominated for seven Grammy Awards, The Nightfly represent[s] certain fantasies that might have been entertained by a young man growing up in the remote suburbs of a northeastern city during the late fifties and early sixties, i. One of my general height, weight, and build, pens Fagen in the liner notes, revealing the work’s thematic thrust and wistful, nostalgic appeal. At their core, songs look at the world via an optimistic, mindfully innocent lens and through the eyes of an adolescent holed up in his bedroom with his ear to a radio whose exciting transmissions inspire thoughts of futuristic cities, late-night deejays, otherworldly hopes, and Cold War romances. Cinema for the ears, The Nightfly comes on like a film transferred to wax its stories filled with relatable vulnerability, ambition, and warmth. It is also timelessly cool, with everything from the iconic album cover complete with Fagen in the role of a cigarette-smoking disk jockey spinning a Sonny Rollins album on an RCA turntable at 4:09 in the morning to the flawless playing honoring the laid-back, hip, stylish jazz pedigree of the arrangements. Indeed, The Nightfly’s fame owes as much to the stunning contributions by stellar musicians saxophonist Michael Brecker, trumpeter Randy Brecker, guitarist Larry Carlton, drummer Steve Jordan, bassist Marcus Miller, drummer Jeff Porcaro, and “Harmonica Frank” Floyd included as it does the particulars behind its creation, which involved cutting-edge technology, novel microphone techniques, and pioneering recording methods that gave Fagen exactly what he demanded. His insistence on dialing in exacting drum sounds is by itself the stuff of legend. The results of the meticulous sessions transcend eras and generations part of its very design. Virtually every track connects with classic 50s and 60s styles. “Green Flower Street” doubles as an homage to the jazz standard On Green Dolphin Street. The title track draws imagery from blues pioneer Charley Patton. “Ruby Baby” references soul greats the Drifters. “Maxine” nods to harmonies perfected by big-band vocal quartets like the Four Freshmen. “The Goodbye Look” acknowledges the bossa-nova craze of Fagen’s youth. In all respects, The Nightfly rules the airwaves. More About Mobile Fidelity UltraDisc One-Step and Why It Is Superior. Instead of utilizing the industry-standard three-step lacquer process, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab’s new UltraDisc One-Step (UD1S) uses only one step, bypassing two processes of generational loss. While three-step processing is designed for optimum yield and efficiency, UD1S is created for the ultimate in sound quality. Just as Mobile Fidelity pioneered the UHQR (Ultra High-Quality Record) with JVC in the 1980s, UD1S again represents another state-of-the-art advance in the record-manufacturing process. MFSL engineers begin with the original master tapes and meticulously cut a set of lacquers. These lacquers are used to create a very fragile, pristine UD1S stamper called a convert. ” Delicate “converts are then formed into the actual record stampers, producing a final product that literally and figuratively brings you closer to the music. By skipping the additional steps of pulling another positive and an additional negative, as done in the three-step process used in standard pressings, UD1S produces a final LP with the lowest noise floor possible today. The removal of the additional two steps of generational loss in the plating process reveals tremendous amounts of extra musical detail and dynamics, which are otherwise lost due to the standard copying process. The exclusive nature of these very limited pressings guarantees that every UD1S pressing serves as an immaculate replica of the lacquer sourced directly from the original master tape. Every conceivable aspect of vinyl production is optimized to produce the most perfect record album available today. This is actually numbered #373/6000.
