Strong Very Good (VG). Plays loud and strong, sounds great. Visual Grade: Strong VG. Conservatively graded, a brilliant copy for the grade. Retains a great glossy sheen, an acceptable number of light, unfeelable marks with a high standard of cleanliness to the surfaces between. Very slight storage warp DNAP. Labels with bright and crisp print, no heavy wear, dark “A” stamp either side. Matrices: BB 3753+, BB 3754+. Hear in full on Youtube, search’1965 Blue Beat 45 BB 306 Naturality. Hear A-side’The Maytals – Ska War (Treat Me Bad)’ in full. Hear B-side’The Skatalites – Perhaps’ in full. Grading system with generalised descriptions of each grade. Please refer to the above Listing Information for specific information regarding the condition of this record Grades are given on a visual basis, if two grades are given in the format Grade 1/Grade 2, these correspond to the A-side/B-side respectively. Used with hesitation, even for many brand new records. In typical indoor lighting an EX graded record will appear to be near mint until very closely inspected. If theres a mark you can easily point out in typical indoor lighting, its not EX. Strong Very Good Plus. As per the qualities of EX and NM, a record which has seen only light play at most. Allowance for a low number of light marks. The typical Strong VG+ is some 2 or 3 light/inaudible lines from EX to NM. Allowance for some light marks but still retaining a generous sheen and respectable overall cleanliness. Well cared for with occasional light use. Shouldnt leave you longing for a cleaner copy. In order to maintain a respectable standard set for the VG+ grading, records on the lower end of VG+ are graded as Strong VG. Surfaces still hold a healthy sheen with a lesser cleanliness than a VG+ graded record. Played but full of play yet. May display a lessened but still present sheen, light marks in a higher frequency or may fit the descriptions of the above grades with the presence of feelable marks (within reason). The majority of VG- graded records will be enjoyed by myself on a sensitive Hi-Fi and will often be fit to DJ. As per the above description with a higher tolerance for marks, lessened sheen but typically still reflective in appearance. Quite often plays above expectations and depending on the pressing may very well be fit to DJ. G+ is a well-established grade which is still to be respected for playable copies of desirable records. Lessened sheen, light marks throughout or the presence of larger pronounced feelable marks. Marked throughout or with a number of larger feelable marks, will usually play without skipping. Cracked or warped beyond repair, skips, sticks, hitches. High quality 100% recyclable packaging. Australia & New Zealand. Rammellzee vs. K-Rob Beat Bop (Tartown Records) Basquiat 1983
February 27, 2020 by admin
K-Rob – Beat Bop (Tartown Records) – Basquiat – 1983. Hip Hop single 12 (45RPM) by. Originally released in 1983 by record label Tartown. It was initially distributed merely as a. Its cover was designed by New York City. This is a very rare original pressing in fine shape. The cover is by NYC artist Jean Michel Basquiat. Historical background from wiki. The track was initially intended as a battle rap. Between Rammellzee and Basquiat, following heated arguments between the two. Rammellzee, an influential graffiti artist himself, accused Basquiat of being a fraud. In turn, Basquiat claimed he could out-rap, out-dance, and out-paint anybody. The duo eventually settled on “Beat Bop” acting as an outlet for this tension. With links to Andy Warhol. Jean-Michel Basquiat was the toast of the New York art world during that period. Rammellzee, on the other hand, describes himself as being an up-and-coming con artist. Basquiat therefore agreed to pay for recording, pressing and eventual release. Despite this, both Rammellzee and K-Rob had the power to overrule Basquiat on the record’s content: He wanted [to] say his own verses… Me and K-Rob read them and started laughing, and we crushed up his paper with the words he had written down and we threw it back at him face first. The result was a ten-minute track featuring Rammellzee and K-Rob on vocals, under the direction of Fab Five Freddy. Its production credited to Basquiat only (despite Rammellzee insisting that Basquiat did nothing but foot the bill). Speaking in 2008, Rammellzee reflected on the relaxed nature of the recording session by saying “we were just having fun”. The record was eventually released in 1983, limited to 500 copies with custom art by Basquiat. It has also been distributed by P. Rofile Records, in 1983 and later in 2001. Described as one of the artiest and rootsiest record, It has both a great groove and a crazy experimental sound that influenced many artists from Beastie Boys to Cypress Hill. This is one of the most essential hip hop track, alongside Rapper’s Delight and The Message. The LP is in good shape with very slight surface noise, the cover shows some wear in corners and spine.
