Complete LP album in good working condition. The Velvet Underground & Nico is the debut album by the American rock band the Velvet Underground and German singer Nico, released in March 1967 through Verve Records. It was recorded in 1966 while the band were featured on Andy Warhol’s Exploding Plastic Inevitable tour. The album features experimental performance sensibilities and controversial lyrical topics, including drug abuse, prostitution, sadomasochism and sexual deviancy. Cover/Sleeve Grading applies to OUTER SLEEVE ONLY. If the original Inner sleeve is included it will be shown in the photos. THE SCALE IS AS FOLLOWS. 10: MINT (M), Pristine, Looks as if it just came off the manufacturing line, also listed as New, Mint Sealed/Unopened. 9: NEAR MINT (NM), Looks as if it just came from a store and was opened for the first time, maybe played a few times if ever, no evidence of play or wear whatsoever. 8: EXCELLENT (EX), also listed as VERY GOOD PLUS PLUS (VG++), LP may have a faint surface mark or two barring it from being truly Near Mint, but sound quality will not be affected at all, cover sleeve is just short of Near Mint, often used for cover sleeves in Shrink, or with no ringwear or staining or easily visible flaws whatsoever, seams and spine fully intact. This copy was acquired from the original owner that bought this back in the late 60s. It plays VERY well without any notable surface noise, and no skips or pops. Unless you find a sealed copy, this is near the best you’ll find! The classic and visually beautiful Andy Warhol cover is in great condition! Being an early pressing, it is amazing to see the banana still unpeeled and with little wear. The gatefold cover is fully intact with no seam splits or any other major issues besides some light shelf wear. The spine seam is very nice with a clear title! You won’t be disappointed! Holy Grail original 1st Pressing! This is the original first state pressing, with the Eric Emerson torso back cover. Subsequent (2nd State) releases had a sticker, covering the offending image, whereas third state covers had Emerson airbrushed out of the image. Partial banana peel OK, almost completely peeled! , The cover presents beautifully. Hint of ring wear, along with a crease on the front, and some minor splitting on the top (about 3 inches). Inner gatefold presents beautifully. Please do see the images, and if you would like more pictures, just let me know. OK, this is not a pristine record. Spot played every track, and while there are numerous pops and cracks, I did not hear any skips or jumps; played through fine on my vintage V15 Type IV. BACKGROUND NOISE ON QUIETER SECTIONS IS QUITE EVIDENT. True original first 1st press mono produced by Andy Warhol 1967. Andy Warhol managed the Velvet Underground (although there is certainly some disagreement on exactly how much managing he did), and also created the album cover featuring a silkscreen banana. Album is #13 on Rolling Stones greatest albums of all time. This is an essential record for the Warhol or Lou Reed or Velvet Underground fan! This LP is from a collection I acquired from the friend of a fastidious collector who passed away over 30 years ago The friend inherited them & stored them away for that entire time. The friend told me he hasn’t touched them at all for that entire time & looking at this collection I totally believe him. This LP looks like it was barely played by the original owner, if at all. The cover has very minor issues which i’ve described in greter detail below. The Velvet Underground & Nico – OG 1968 Verve Vinyl LP – Intact Banana Peel – NM. The Velvet Underground & Nico. Verve Records V6-5008 / US 1968 (Airbrushed Torso Version). A V6-5008 SIDE-1 MGS-558 REV 21 Block-shaped’S’ B V6-5008 SIDE-2 MGS-559 21 Block-shaped’S. I’m not 100% sure it’s “21” in the runout. One or both could be a “31”. It’s hard to tell. The cover is in superb condition. Bright and clean with a very light discoloration in the spine area. Crisp spine & edges except for a few very light dings in the opening of the back flap of the gate-fold. The gate-fold inside is very close to pristine. A light partial record imprint on the front & back cover. The peel is lifted a very slight bit at the top of the stem. It looks like the previous owner started to peel it & thought better of it or maybe it just got snagged a little bit on something. The banana peel is intact but a little off set so I originally thought it was carefully peeled off and put back on in the offset position, but I was talking to a trusted audiophile friend of mine and he assured me that this was next to impossible because they tear so easily and it probably came from the plant like that. Comes with original Verve inner sleeve which is also in superb condition with no splits. The vinyl looks in pristine shape viewed under bright light. Looks untouched with a high sheen and Crisp, Clean labels with no spindle marks. Spot checked and it sounds Super Clean.
