Northern Soul Grail Willie Hutch The Duck / Love Runs Out Promo 1965
November 10, 2021 by admin
“The Duck / Love Runs Out”. Monster Northern Soul grail in fab condition. Here’s the scoop: before either of us were born, my husband’s father bought a big box of random records at a block party in the suburbs of Pennsylvania, USA. Those records, many of them white label promos with DJ stickers and “X” written on them in China marker, came from a radio station. My hubby’s dad bought it in around 1967; my husband’s been carting it and the others around since the late 1980s, and, a few nights ago, we put the needle on this one, for maybe the first time since 1965. Plays VG+ to high VG+ on both sides. Punchy, crazy cool mastering. This one is, no joke, a religious experience if you dig Northern soul. There are just a couple light pops and a little bit of surface noise on the run-out of Love Runs Out. ” “The Duck has a few tiny tiny pops, but basically very high VG+. Visually graded, vinyl is high VG+ on “The Duck” with just some very very light smudges. “Love Runs Out” is a low VG+ with a few more pronounced smudges, but really, this is gorgeous on the vinyl. Labels do have some wear, some discoloration and sticker residue on both. This is a crazy rare record but it’s so so so good. Records are graded using very strict. Please check out our other auctions of rare, desirable, and high end vinyl and like us on Facebook (Dramagirlwithlime). Thanks for your business! Absolutely perfect in every way. Certainly never been played, possibly even still sealed. (More on still sealed under “Other Considerations”). Should be used sparingly as a grade, If at all. Near Mint (NM or M-). A nearly perfect record. Many dealers won’t give a grade higher than this implying (perhaps correctly)that no record is ever truly perfect. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. An LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable similar defects. No cut-out holes, either. And of course, the same should be true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves and the like. Basically, an LP in near mint condition looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink wrap. Near Mint is the highest price listed in all Goldmine price guides. Very Good Plus (VG+). Generally worth 50 percent of the Near Mint value. A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don’t affect one’s listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are “OK”. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play. Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. In general, if not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint. All but the most mint-crazy collectors will find a Very Good Plus record highly acceptable. Generally worth 25 percent of Near Mint value. Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song’s intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them. Goldmine price guides with more than one price will list Very Good as the lowest price. This, not the Near Mint price, should be your guide when determining how much a record is worth, as that is the price a dealer will normally pay you for a Near Mint record. Good (G), Good Plus (G+). Generally worth 10-15 percent of the Near Mint value. Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear (on a styrene record, the groove will be starting to turn white). A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object. It is a common item, you’ll probably find another copy in better shape eventually. But, if it’s something you have been seeking for years, and the price is right, get it… But keep looking to upgrade. Poor (P), Fair (F). Generally worth 0-5 percent of the Near Mint price. The record is cracked, badly warped, and won’t play through without skipping or repeating. The picture sleeve is water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP cover barely keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves are fully seam split, crinkled, and written upon. The item “Northern Soul Grail Willie Hutch The Duck / Love Runs Out Promo 1965″ is in sale since Thursday, November 4, 2021. This item is in the category “Music\Vinyl Records”. The seller is “dramagirlwithlime” and is located in Woburn, Massachusetts. Larry Allen 45RPM Can’t We Talk It Over Northern Soul 1st Press G&C115-B Rare
October 4, 2021 by admin
It has never been played more than once as far as I know. Center hole appears to be slightly off center. Every copy of this record that I have seen has the same off center defect. I also have heard some minor noise at the start of either side on other copies of this record. The original pressings were not produced at a state of the art pressing plant. The record appears to be near mint or excellent. There is some minor bleed visible on the B side. I’m the first and only owner. I have kept it safe in my possession since 1965. I received the following. From a recent purchaser of one of my other copies of this very rare and hard to find original first pressing. The most perfect copy I’ve ever seen! Just one more after this number 11. Could be a great gift for the holidays. This could be one of the best copies ever offered of this record on. It is a very rare find. Check out the pictures and see how shiny it appears. “Can’t We Talk It Over ” &. “Somewhere There Is Paradise”. 1965 Green Dolphin, G&C 115-A and G&C 115-B. Super-rare first pressing Northern Soul by Larry Allen on Green Dolphin Records. Run outs : “Can’t We Talk It Over” Handwritten G&C 115-B “Somewhere There is Paradise” Handwritten G&C 115-A followed by PARADISE. When the record was released in the US the Somewhere There is Paradise cut was the A side. Only after this record years later found it’s way to the UK did the B side “Can’t We Talk It Over” become a mega UK hit. I can attest that this is a very rare first pressing of Larry Allen’s record. I was a friend of Larry Allen when I was living in Western Pennsylvania USA in the 1960s and he gave me some copies of his record. This original first version has Larry Allen on the label. There are not many great copies of the original pressing in 1965. I actually witnessed Larry Allen singing his record live at a school in Western Pennsylvania. I was part of his supporting stage crew and DJ. Based on the snippet below there may only be 100 or less original first press copies of this record in existence. Snippet of information interesting.. Larry Allen was from Greensburg, PA. Jerry Reed, who owned the label, had 1000 copies pressed. 500 as Larry Allen and 500 as L. It was released in the fall of 1965. Jerry got frustrated because the record didn’t sell and at the time he had an old car that he was junking, and he threw around 900 copies of the record into the trunk to be crushed and remelted. Tariffs rules are changing and I will do my best to keep your costs down. The demo below is a sample of how the record will play. It is not the actual record because I want to limit any additional wear resulting from using it. The item “Larry Allen 45RPM Can’t We Talk It Over Northern Soul 1st Press G&C115-B Rare” is in sale since Friday, October 1, 2021. This item is in the category “Music\Vinyl Records”. Yiddish Soul Brother Amnon Only Girl I Had/In New 45 rpm Chess VG Northern Soul
September 3, 2021 by admin
SS = brand new, sealed M- = near mint, or unplayed condition. Cover looks as close to perfect with only minor signs of wear and or age. = minor scuffs which are only slightly visible. There may be more than a few scuffs and NO Scratches. Will not distract significantly from the sound. Cover also has only slight wear, and is still in nice collectible condition. VG+ = vinyl still has a great luster, record shows wear, surface scuffs. But the flaws will be noticeable to the naked eye. A virtually clean cover, but may have small writing on it. The artwork looks clean with slightly more aging. The back of the cover usually gives away the age of the cover. Flat white paper will be somewhat yellow yet no stains or mildew from water damage. VG = overall wear, but no skips of serious defects, more noisy sound during quiet passages. Cover may have drill hole or tears, usually with heavy ring wear. VG- = heavy wear on record and cover. Guarantee does not apply to vg- or worse condition records. May have scotch taped seams. P = Poor or Rough condition. Can still be used for framing. The item “Yiddish Soul Brother Amnon Only Girl I Had/In New 45 rpm Chess VG Northern Soul” is in sale since Tuesday, October 2, 2018. This item is in the category “Music\Vinyl Records”.
