UN-PEELED BANANA GATEFOLD COVER. THE’67 ORIGINAL ” TORSO “! Not the AIRBRUSHED-out first press! USA – blue/silver – VERVE RECORDS – V- 5008 = MONO. \ USA – VERVE – V-5008 – MONO. You don’t see the legendary “TORSO” cover and MONO MIXES vinyl THIS CLEAN.. With TORSO back cover :. Original VERVE double sided inner sleeve included! HIGHLY collectible and NOT CENSORED by sticker on back cover artwork, nor revised air-brushed out back cover art… The legendary (withdrawn) TORSO remains in BEAUTIFUL condition! Many of the very first’67 printings were covered with the sticker in order to try to hide the TORSO which was being threatened by lawsuit. This copy escaped all the drama! Original = UN-PEELED BANANA COVER 1967 printing (TORSO on back cover)… This is the much more sought, harder to find 51+ year old release containing the MONO song mixes & bold punchy production which greatly differs from the stereo release.. <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <>. Recorded in’66 during Andy Warhol’s multimedia event tour, The Velvet Underground & Nico would gain notoriety for its experimentalist performance sensibilities, as well as its focus on controversial subject matter expressed in many of their songs. Theirs was the dim world of drugs and sexual perversion, of heroin addiction and the desperate loss of hope that goes with it. Their concern was with death and violence… Oozing evil and lubricity, they made every other group look like kid stuff, and they made a lot of people nervous… There is no word for their sound but sometimes it seems as if a presence has taken it over, perhaps even His Satanic Majesty himself. You can easily imagine someone performing black masses with the Velvet Undergrounds albums. Not for the kiddies. Their world view was dark and nihilistic at a time when everyone else was singing about peace and flowers… The Doors (whose first album was a hit when Velvet Underground & Nico was released) had a darker vision than The Velvet Underground! Even Jefferson Airplane, whose Surrealistic Pillow LP defined for the time capsules the romance of the Hippie Moment, didnt turn a blind eye to the dark side of the counterculture– and the Airplane and The Doors were the most popular bands in America during the Velvets time. The Velvet Underground & Nico (the latter being a Warhol-recommended “chanteuse” who departed after the album was released to pursue an even more quixotic solo career) does function as a kind of “map of their music” (to paraphrase The Doors description of their own debut LP). The overall impression created is dark, noisy, more than a little paranoid and seemingly amoral (as opposed to immoral)– “Heroin” makes a point of being neither for nor against, but simply about ; similarly, no specific judgment is passed upon the characters in songs like “Im Waiting For The Man” and Venus In Furs. ” The album concludes with “The Black Angels Death Song” and “European Son, likably self-indulgent exercises in sonic (and verbal) envelope-pushing. But the ballads Lou wrote for Nico to sing (including the album opener “Sunday Morning”) provide a disarmingly sweet balance, and even a specific reassurance: When you think the night has seen your mind, / That inside youre twisted and unkind, / Let me stand to show that you are blind– / Please put down your hands, / Cause I see you– / Ill be your mirror… “Sunday Morning” (Reed, Cale) 2:54. “I’m Waiting for the Man” 4:39. “Femme Fatale” 2:38. “Venus in Furs” 5:12. “Run Run Run” 4:22. “All Tomorrow’s Parties” 6:00. “There She Goes Again” 2:41. “I’ll Be Your Mirror” 2:14. “The Black Angel’s Death Song” (Reed, Cale) 3:11. “European Son” (Reed, Cale, Morrison, Tucker) 7:46. CONDITION : The Cover : rated: NEAR M- beautiful cover; note the fragile banana skin which is rated “EX” (excellent) is all in-tact; all there, complete, but upon close inspection the top stem of the skin has the usual crack line, though really hard to see and otherwise looks great! Many Butcher covers have been ruined when novice collectors attempted this highly difficult task… When in doubt, our advice is : DON’T BUTCHER YOUR BUTCHER!! Includes the original printed’66 Capitol Records inner sleeve ::: investment QUALITY = ORIGINAL’66 BUTCHER COVER =. <><><><><> < T >< H >< E ><>< B >< E >< A >< T >< L >< E >< S > <><><><><>. By the time the Capitol Records released Yesterday And Today , the Beatles were in hot water in America. The record was released just after John’s infamous interview in which he stated that the Beatles were “bigger than Jesus”, which angered Americans and provoked many bans on their music and public incinerations of memorabilia. But Yesterday And Today would take public dispproval to a whole new level, as the original cover featured the band in butcher’s smocks with baby doll parts and raw meat covering them. The record was pulled almost immediately – creating an instant collector’s item – and in the confusion that followed, several replacement covers were issued. Songs on the album were taken from the’leftovers’ of the British release Rubber Soul as well as the single/B-side “Yesterday/Act Naturally” released on the UK version of Help! , the single/B-side “We Can Work It Out/ DayTripper”, and three songs which had not, at that point, been released in the UK: “I’m Only Sleeping”, “Doctor Robert”, and “And Your Bird Can Sing” (which all wound up on the UK version of Revolver). Drive My Car (2:30). Recorded: October 13, 1965 at Abbey Road, London, England John Lennon – lead vocal, tambourine Paul McCartney – lead vocal, bass guitar, piano George Harrison – lead guitar, background vocal Ringo Starr – drums. Recorded: April 27, 1966 at Abbey Road, London, England with lead vocal overdubbed April 29, 1966, backward guitar May 5, 1966 and background vocals May 6, 1966 John Lennon – lead vocal, acoustic guitar Paul McCartney – bass guitar, background vocal George Harrison – lead guitar, background vocal Ringo Starr – drums. Day Tripper (2:50). Recorded: October 16, 1965 at Abbey Road, London, England John Lennon – lead vocal, rhythm guitar, tambourine Paul McCartney – lead vocal, bass guitar George Harrison – lead guitar Ringo Starr – drums. CONDITION : The cover : rated: the front “Butcher” cover is magnificent – crystal-clear with no imperfections! Downgrading a bit to overall “EX” (excellent) because of very minimal rub wear on spine but no seams splits. The back cover is very clean with exception of a small rub-wear spot at upper right of back, but not showing up in photos as small and still white. Overall as the photos show, the front & back panels are GREAT – all things considered see photos – appearance in hand is exactly like what is presented in the photos here. Most peeled butcher copies will show at least some or more wear, tears and imperfections to the cover slick. This copy makes makes for a fantastic display-worthy (framed) wall hanging, total greatness with no wear to the front cover! The 4 individual Beatles faces in their butcher glory are spotless clean , a rarity for even the best Butcher covers. Just the wear on spine and that little wear spot on back cover keep the overall cover from being M. Again, much better than the “usual” original Butcher cover. Overall, a GRAND addition to any valuable collection…. Solid peeled Butchers covers like this are very scarce with most copies are safely tucked away in private collections. No split seams, no tears or rips, no writing, no delete marks, overall in reasonable acceptable investment condition – ask any further pertinent questions please. The vinyl is rated: VG++ representing a respectable platter , few minor hair scuffs is all and plays exceptional throughout — even though it’s all about the butcher cover – as you know, and the original’66 vinyl is readily available for future up-grade purposes if desired. Both 1966 (mono) RAINBOW Capitol labels are clean. A cool addition to anyone’s music library! SEE: SELLERS OTher items for similar cool sounds for “head” people. BEATLES 1966 STILL SEALED MONO FIRST STATE BUTCHER COVER LP GORGEOUS! Beatles – Yesterday And Today (Capitol). 1966 mono original “First State” “Butcher” cover LP. This one never had the second (trunk) slick pasted over it. This is an UNOPENED Los Angeles issue (factory #6 on back cover). There are three “breathe holes” detectable in the front shrink wrap and one on the back. This sealed copy has a 1 1/2″ separation in the shrink wrap at the opening, where the yellow Capitol inner sleeve is clearly visible and another 1/4″ separation just below it.. Corners of cover are slightly “pushed” and the bottom right one is slightly worn. These issues are listed here for completeness, but they do not take away from the overall beautiful condition of the cover, which is very displayable. First state butcher covers are extremely rare and sealed examples rarely are offered for sale. A fantastic example of an extremely rare record. Includes Rockaway Records Letter of Authenticity. Important notes about our grading: We grade conservatively, accurately and honestly. S/S, M, M- (NM), VG++, VG+, VG, VG-, G, WBR (Poor). We do not use EX (many dealers’ EX would be our VG). Started with a very low price. The Beatles – 1968 UK Top Loading Mono Cover No 0009745. Beatles Memorabilia – Double LP PMC 7067-8. We found this in our attic and it’s clearly been there for many years. I’m not a collector so have no knowledge of the value. This is a complete set with both black inner sleeves, Original lyric sheet/poster and 4 individual prints of The Beatles. This LP is always said to be the “Crown Jewel” or “Holy Grail” of any Beatle collection and finding an original UK Mono pressing with a cover number under 10,000 is rare. The original 1968 first issue, fully laminated top opening, Mono gate-fold sleeve in fair condition. Two original UK Mono first issue (No EMI Text) vinyl LPs both in good condition. Four Original, full color glossy photographs, one of each Beatle. Original, large format, double sided lyric poster printed by Garrod and Lofthouse. This has previously fallen apart across the fold and then taped back together. The tape has now gone so the bottom third is separate – see photos. Two original matte black inner sleeves in fair condition. And’Mfd in UK’ label text. All four record labels are WITHOUT the wording’An E. The disc labels are clear in the photos. Just outside the labels on the vinyl, the following is stamped. Disc 1, Side 1: XEX 709-1. Disc 1, Side 2: XEX 710-2. Disc 2, Side 3: XEX 711-1. Disc 2, Side 4: XEX 712-1. There’s also some markings in the same area that I don’t understand. Disc 1, Side 1: GGH. Disc 1, Side 2: GGL. Disc 2, Side 3: LL. Disc 1, Side 1: HT. These markings may be unique as I’ve not seen any reference to them on any other White Album. I haven’t played them so I can’t comment on their quality. There are scratches present but I don’t know how serious they are. There has been some aging of the “White” cover but for the most part it looks good for its age. The laminate is intact although there are areas on the spine where it is beginning to loosen and some discoloring along the left side of the front cover next to the spine. There are numerous light crease marks around the cover and overall, it looks grubby. I don’t know how to clean or refurbish any of this album – so I haven’t! It’s possible that with a professional clean up, it will make someone a considerable profit. Some softening along the top opening but no tears or rips. There’s a largish superficial scratch on the front cover and a smaller one on the back (see photos). The embossed The Beatles and the record number No 0009745 are very legible. All four record labels are in VG+ or better condition, with very minor spindle marks that can be seen under close inspection. No writing, no stickers. The vinyl on all four sides seems to me to be in a fair condition. They need a professional clean but they are flat and not warped. The LP comes with all four photographs which are in VG+ condition. All four prints are 20 x 29 cos and are printed on the original thick card-stock – No tears, no writing, no pin-holes, no glue or sellotape marks. There are some areas of light wear along the tops from removing them from the cover. The LP comes with the original Lip Stick poster / lyric sheet 57 x 87 in fair condition overall except that the bottom third had come away at the fold and then taped back. The tape has long since gone but the tape mark remains. Both inner sleeves are matte black and are in good condition for age. Some folds and crinkles as to be expected. I will post anywhere and I will add tracking etc. The item “#9745 The Beatles White Album LP Mono UK 1st Press 1968. Very low number” is in sale since Monday, March 18, 2019. The Jimi Hendrix Experience Axis Bold As Love MONO UHQR Analogue Prod PRE ORDER
Please note, this is a PRE-ORDER. The record is scheduled to be delivered in April. Definitive handmade limited run reissue of Jimi Hendrix Axis: Bold As Love. Newly remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original master tapes. Mono release limited to 1,500 copies. Pressed at Quality Record Pressings using Clarity Vinyl on a manual Finebilt press. Purest possible pressing and most visually stunning presentation and packaging! Includes 16-page booklet with recording session info and an essay written by Brad Tolinski, former editor of Guitar World Magazine. The Axis UHQR cut is amazing full bodied, detailed, powerful and engaging. The best pressing of the record I have ever heard. Bill Levenson, Grammy Award-winning reissue producer. AP’s UHQR mastered by Bernie Grundman towers above the rest. During our listening session, I told (Michael Fremer), if someone doesn’t like this record’s sound, their listening situation is crap. It’s everything the SACD offers and more, minus the slight digital sheen, and shockingly quieter Yes! The vinyl produced blacker backgrounds than did the SACD, hence the “shock” Ed. In addition, the packaging (which was sent in an unfinalized version) is stunning; the album itself is housed in a Stoughton tip-on gatefold while the outer two-piece box is of excellent build and features a beautiful wooden spine. Read the entire commentary, based on a pre-production copy of the album, here. Analogue Productions, the audiophile in-house reissue label of Acoustic Sounds, Inc. Together with Quality Record Pressings, is reintroducing one of the most revered brands in LP history the Ultra High Quality Record (UHQR), originally introduced by JVC Japan in the 1980s! Analogue Productions presents its first UHQR title Jimi Hendrix’s 1967 masterpiece, Axis: Bold As Love, in both stereo and mono versions. This UHQR is newly remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog master tapes. Each UHQR will be pressed at Acoustic Sounds’ industry-leading pressing plant Quality Record Pressings (QRP) using hand-selected Clarity Vinyl® on a manual Finebilt press with attention paid to every single detail of every single record. The 200-gram records will feature the same flat profile that helped to make the original UHQR so desirable. From the lead-in groove to the run-out groove, there is no pitch to the profile, allowing the customer’s stylus to play truly perpendicular to the grooves from edge to center. Clarity Vinyl® allows for the purest possible pressing and the most visually stunning presentation. Every UHQR will be hand inspected upon pressing completion, and only the truly flawless will be allowed to go to market. Each UHQR will be packaged in a deluxe box and will include a booklet detailing the entire process of making a UHQR along with a hand-signed certificate of inspection. This will be a truly deluxe, collectible product. Each Axis UHQR will be available as two versions: mono and stereo. The stereo release will be limited to 5,000 copies, while the mono release will be limited to 1,500 copies. The deluxe box will be gold foil numbered. Axis: Bold As Love, the sensational sophomore release of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, showcased Hendrix’s expansive experimentation while acknowledging his early R&B and soul music influences. The album features classics such as “Spanish Castle Magic, ” “Little Wing, ” “Castles Made Of Sand, ” and If 6 Was 9. For those Jimi Hendrix fans who collect and prefer his many vinyl album releases, an original mono copy of Axis: Bold As Love remains the coin of the realm. Mono vinyl pressings of both Are You Experienced and Axis: Bold As Love are significant because they are not only difficult to find in premium condition but they also feature discrete mixes made specifically for monophonic release, originally created by producer Chas Chandler, Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Kramer. For this mono edition of Axis, Bernie Grundman’s Los Angeles mastering facility was utilized, using a specially equipped Studer tape machine outfitted with a full track mono head block. The machine has also been refitted with vintage Ampex 350 tube electronics. These technical alterations provided the closest possible approximation of the original 1967 Track Records mono mastering process. The edition also features the original gatefold sleeve artwork. Grundman cut the lacquers for the edition; the plating at QRP was directed by Gary Salstrom, master plating technician and QRP general manager. The Axis: Bold As Love UHQRTM will include a 16-page booklet featuring recording information from the sessions at Olympic Studios in London and an essay written by Brad Tolinski, former editor of Guitar World Magazine. As Rolling Stone states, Jimi Hendrix was the most innovative instrumental genius the rock era produced, a wizard guitar player whose sense of technique never overwhelmed the blues and rock’n’ roll spirit that was the underpinning of his genius. He improvised with the fervor of a born jazzman; he philosophized like the most cosmic rocker, but ultimately his basics were rooted in soul, a reflection of the chitlin circuit, where he cut his teeth. With the possible exception of Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience was debatably the world’s finest-ever power trio. Axis was a showcase for Jimi’s brash, scintillating songs and the grasp that Jimi and his cohorts – Mitch Mitchell on drums and Noel Redding on bass – had on the studio technology at their disposal, and the lyrical beauty of Hendrix’s guitar playing. The most lasting song for many is the awe-inspiring’Little Wing. With its perfect blend of lead and rhythm guitar (the song’s introductory phrases blurred the line forever between the two), the tune is a pure, simple thing of beauty… In true 1967 style, the production on Axis is superb. Jimi never sounded as vulnerable and accessible, vocally and instrumentally, while the analog thud of Mitch Mitchell and the solid basslines of Reddding were the ultimate rhythm section of the day – with a nod, of course, to Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, their only rivals in so many respects. 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. (Axis) followed up Hendrix’s groundbreaking debut effort with a solid collection of great tunes and great interactive playing between himself, Noel Redding, Mitch Mitchell, and the recording studio itself. Wisely retaining manager Chas Chandler to produce the album and Eddie Kramer as engineer, Hendrix stretched further musically than the first album, but even more so as a songwriter. He was still quite capable of coming up with spacy rockers like’You Got Me Floating,”Up from the Skies,’ and’Little Miss Lover,’ radio-ready to follow on the commercial heels of’Foxey Lady’ and’Purple Haze. But the beautiful, wistful ballads’Little Wing,”Castles Made of Sand,”One Rainy Wish,’ and the title track set closer show remarkable growth and depth as a tunesmith, harnessing Curtis Mayfield soul guitar to Dylanesque lyrical imagery and Fuzz Face hyperactivity to produce yet another side to his grand psychedelic musical vision. Bottom line, January of 1968 brought Axis: Bold As Love to the U. An album that expanded Jimi’s six-string flame with celestial clarity, and also brought his rapidly evolving songwriting gift to the fore. It was recorded at Olympic Studios in London. THE BEATLES UK MONO White Album ULTRA LOW NUMBER #0001043 Near Mint 1st PRESSING
A superb Near Mint-/Near Mint UK Mono first pressing of. With the very low number 00001043. Millions of numbered copies of the White Album were produced, and to find a copy with a number this lowespecially in this conditionis very rare. This is by far the lowest number weve offered. The mono discs (with a unique mix, different from the much more common stereo pressings) are the earliest version, without An EMI Recordings on the dark green Apple labels. They are extremely clean, grading NM/NM and NM/NM. The matrix codes are -1/5/OM, -1/5/TT, -1/1/GP and -1/1/GM. All four sides play beautifully, without issue. The cover grades NM-; the number is stamped clearly and cleanly. On the front cover there is a small crease to the top left corner, a small and faint 3/4 x 1/5 moisture stain on the top left edge, and a barely visible area of very slight discoloration near the top half of the left edgeit looks like a bit of moisture got under the lamination when it was manufactured, almost like a puff of smoke was trapped, and it is almost unnoticeable. The back cover is beautiful, with only a diagonal lamination crease to the bottom left corner, and the inner gatefold is in beautiful condition. These are all minor distractions, but we try to note any imperfection. Overall the cover is very clean, and the photos give an accurate representation. Both black innersleeves are in EX condition, the 4 photographs NM, and the poster NM. A beautiful, very low numbered copy of an essential album. We grade all records visually, cover first, then disc; using the abbreviations M / NM / EX / VG with + and. We try to describe everything as accurately as possible, and spot check any vinyl flaw that looks like it might make a sound. We just grade accurately, describe any flaw, and sell only high quality rare records in fine condition. See our other listings for more from this fantastic collection.
