VG+/VG+ Kaleidoscope Faintly Blowing Orig UK Psych Grail Fontana Records 1969
Cover/Record Grading: Sealed/ M- (rarely used) NM / EX (+/-) / VG+ / VG / VG- / G (+/-). This is a keeper copy of Kaleidoscope’s second LP entitled “Faintly Blowing” in original stereo format, on Fontana Records in a. Nice enough copy, a Keeper for most folks, like it was for me. Please see the details below about the cover, vinyl, labels and everything else you might want to know. The photos of the labels or cover list the songs and any possible details about the labels. Comes cleaned on my KL Audio Ultrasonic Record Cleaner and placed in a new dust-free sleeve for your grandchildren. And at least one plastic sleeves for moisture protection (for you and me). Very Good Plus (VG+) super cool laminated gatefold cover. No seam splits or spine splits, but there is a tear in the front laminated cover slick near the opening edge at 3 o’clock and creasing around the tear near the center of the opening edge (see photo); but the gatefold cover itself is not torn on the opening edge; just the cover slick. Light shelf wear to bottom seam (but again, no splits). Otherwise, very nice laminated gatefold cover. Just not an EX copy because of the tear on front cover slick. Please SEE all my photos; I did not take them for fun and frolic and they could answer any question you have. Very Good Plus (VG+). EX, but falls short of an EX grade because there is some very light background noise here and there, and a couple of pops or clicks on a few of the songs, for which I grade VG+. Conservatively graded just like all my other LPs (see my feedback about what other people have thought of my rare VG+ vinyl records); comes cleaned. On my KLA Ultrasonic Record Cleaning Machine (like I always do). Near Mint (NM) labels. Please look at my photos in case I missed something. Comes cleaned in new rice paper-type. I clean all vinyl on my KL Audio Ultrasonic Record Cleaning Machine and place it in a new innersleeve so the old dust does not reattach; but I also include the innersleeve that came with the LP if it is the original. I separate the vinyl in its new sleeve from the cover after cleaning, and place the cover and the separately packed vinyl in at least one if not two plastic innersleeves that help protect against moisture damage d. Uring this cool records transition to your record collection. I use sturdy carboard containers with real corners and pack in an MLP-1 oversize box with corner protectors, or a regular NICE cardboard box with at least two insert stiffeners, and I place neon stickers on the front and back of the package indicating Do Not Bend and/or Fragile or something like that to help facilitate a safe passage. There is NO watermark on the vinyl on this LP. This is one of the very very few that escaped that pressing plant problem. UN-PEELED BANANA GATEFOLD COVER. THE’67 ORIGINAL ” TORSO “! Not the AIRBRUSHED-out first press! USA – blue/silver – VERVE RECORDS – V- 5008 = MONO. \ USA – VERVE – V-5008 – MONO. You don’t see the legendary “TORSO” cover and MONO MIXES vinyl THIS CLEAN.. With TORSO back cover :. Original VERVE double sided inner sleeve included! HIGHLY collectible and NOT CENSORED by sticker on back cover artwork, nor revised air-brushed out back cover art… The legendary (withdrawn) TORSO remains in BEAUTIFUL condition! Many of the very first’67 printings were covered with the sticker in order to try to hide the TORSO which was being threatened by lawsuit. This copy escaped all the drama! Original = UN-PEELED BANANA COVER 1967 printing (TORSO on back cover)… This is the much more sought, harder to find 51+ year old release containing the MONO song mixes & bold punchy production which greatly differs from the stereo release.. <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <>. Recorded in’66 during Andy Warhol’s multimedia event tour, The Velvet Underground & Nico would gain notoriety for its experimentalist performance sensibilities, as well as its focus on controversial subject matter expressed in many of their songs. Theirs was the dim world of drugs and sexual perversion, of heroin addiction and the desperate loss of hope that goes with it. Their concern was with death and violence… Oozing evil and lubricity, they made every other group look like kid stuff, and they made a lot of people nervous… There is no word for their sound but sometimes it seems as if a presence has taken it over, perhaps even His Satanic Majesty himself. You can easily imagine someone performing black masses with the Velvet Undergrounds albums. Not for the kiddies. Their world view was dark and nihilistic at a time when everyone else was singing about peace and flowers… The Doors (whose first album was a hit when Velvet Underground & Nico was released) had a darker vision than The Velvet Underground! Even Jefferson Airplane, whose Surrealistic Pillow LP defined for the time capsules the romance of the Hippie Moment, didnt turn a blind eye to the dark side of the counterculture– and the Airplane and The Doors were the most popular bands in America during the Velvets time. The Velvet Underground & Nico (the latter being a Warhol-recommended “chanteuse” who departed after the album was released to pursue an even more quixotic solo career) does function as a kind of “map of their music” (to paraphrase The Doors description of their own debut LP). The overall impression created is dark, noisy, more than a little paranoid and seemingly amoral (as opposed to immoral)– “Heroin” makes a point of being neither for nor against, but simply about ; similarly, no specific judgment is passed upon the characters in songs like “Im Waiting For The Man” and Venus In Furs. ” The album concludes with “The Black Angels Death Song” and “European Son, likably self-indulgent exercises in sonic (and verbal) envelope-pushing. But the ballads Lou wrote for Nico to sing (including the album opener “Sunday Morning”) provide a disarmingly sweet balance, and even a specific reassurance: When you think the night has seen your mind, / That inside youre twisted and unkind, / Let me stand to show that you are blind– / Please put down your hands, / Cause I see you– / Ill be your mirror… “Sunday Morning” (Reed, Cale) 2:54. “I’m Waiting for the Man” 4:39. “Femme Fatale” 2:38. “Venus in Furs” 5:12. “Run Run Run” 4:22. “All Tomorrow’s Parties” 6:00. “There She Goes Again” 2:41. “I’ll Be Your Mirror” 2:14. “The Black Angel’s Death Song” (Reed, Cale) 3:11. “European Son” (Reed, Cale, Morrison, Tucker) 7:46. By the time the Capitol Records released Yesterday And Today , the Beatles were in hot water in America. The record was released just after John’s infamous interview in which he stated that the Beatles were “bigger than Jesus”, which angered Americans and provoked many bans on their music and public incinerations of memorabilia. But Yesterday And Today would take public dispproval to a whole new level, as the original cover featured the band in butcher’s smocks with baby doll parts and raw meat covering them. The record was pulled almost immediately – creating an instant collector’s item – and in the confusion that followed, several replacement covers were issued. Songs on the album were taken from the’leftovers’ of the British release Rubber Soul as well as the single/B-side “Yesterday/Act Naturally” released on the UK version of Help! , the single/B-side “We Can Work It Out/ DayTripper”, and three songs which had not, at that point, been released in the UK: “I’m Only Sleeping”, “Doctor Robert”, and “And Your Bird Can Sing” (which all wound up on the UK version of Revolver). Drive My Car (2:30). Day Tripper (2:50). Recorded: October 16, 1965 at Abbey Road, London, England John Lennon – lead vocal, rhythm guitar, tambourine Paul McCartney – lead vocal, bass guitar George Harrison – lead guitar Ringo Starr – drums. CONDITION : The cover : rated: the front “Butcher” cover is magnificent – crystal-clear with no imperfections! Downgrading a bit to overall “EX” (excellent) because of very minimal rub wear on spine but no seams splits. The back cover is very clean with exception of a small rub-wear spot at upper right of back, but not showing up in photos as small and still white. Overall as the photos show, the front & back panels are GREAT – all things considered see photos – appearance in hand is exactly like what is presented in the photos here. Most peeled butcher copies will show at least some or more wear, tears and imperfections to the cover slick. This copy makes makes for a fantastic display-worthy (framed) wall hanging, total greatness with no wear to the front cover! The 4 individual Beatles faces in their butcher glory are spotless clean , a rarity for even the best Butcher covers. Just the wear on spine and that little wear spot on back cover keep the overall cover from being M. Again, much better than the “usual” original Butcher cover. Overall, a GRAND addition to any valuable collection…. Solid peeled Butchers covers like this are very scarce with most copies are safely tucked away in private collections. No split seams, no tears or rips, no writing, no delete marks, overall in reasonable acceptable investment condition – ask any further pertinent questions please. The vinyl is rated: VG++ representing a respectable platter , few minor hair scuffs is all and plays exceptional throughout — even though it’s all about the butcher cover – as you know, and the original’66 vinyl is readily available for future up-grade purposes if desired. Both 1966 (mono) RAINBOW Capitol labels are clean. A cool addition to anyone’s music library! SEE: SELLERS OTher items for similar cool sounds for “head” people.
