Beatles Please Please Me Stereo Gold Label First Issue Dick James 1G 1R. This is the incredibly rare and very much sought after Stereo Gold Label. This one is a first issue Dick James version, which was subsequently updated to the correct Northern Song Credits. I added this item to the collector’s website’your-collection’. It’s a Dotcom site where you can zoom in to the images below and see them at a much higher resolution. The site hosts my collection and gives me searchable unique lists of my choosing so I can see exactly what I own and what I need. I know what’s in my collection and the value of all my items and my lists at any time – with a growth factor of my choosing. Go take a look and see how much it has to offer the collector. 1G and 1R Stampers The labels are in beautiful first-rate condition, with no spindle wear or spindle marks. They rate near mint. The sleeve is in fabulous condition, with creases to the bottom rear flip back. Each side of the LP has marks, with some scratches. I rate at VG to VG+. Please view all photos. I try to show all angles of the LP sleeve and vinyl. You won’t be disappointed with this one. Send it back in the original condition, well-packed, insured and tracked within the time prescribed in the listing. Secondhand Record For Sale. Item : This isnt rare or scarce, its a one of a kind. The record is supposed to be a double A side single, Strawberry Fields Forever (A) and Penny Lane (AA). Its a psych record by The Beatles, so its very important. What we have here, at first glance, is a manufacturing defect I guess? , since its labeled Penny Lane on both sides there is no Strawberry Fields Forever label on this record and there never was. This is the first irony the double A side single looks to be a double AA side single! Ok, so the second irony is that its supposed to be Strawberry Fields Forever — Not Strawberry Fields NEVER! I guess it was made in Scranton on the Penny Lane aisle where the customer wasnt going to get the full bang for their buck. Wheres my Strawberry label, dammit? Its interesting since this was an error from the start the correct time isnt 3:00 its 2:57. As if these errors werent enough, here we have an unheard of matrix in the runout/deadwax. Discogs only lists: Matrix / Runout (Runout A): 45-X-45870-G4 11, Matrix / Runout (Runout AA): 45-X-45871-F5 #2. Matrix / Runout (Variant runout A): 45-X-45870-F3 #6, Matrix / Runout (Variant runout AA): 45-X-45871-G6 #3. But, on this record, we have matrix numbers ending in 870 F3 and 871 G6 #4. Its good enough thats its an unheard of VARIANT, but wouldnt that be cool if it was a different mix or something? In any case, I know this was pressed in Scanton because it has the triangle in the runout with the IAM in the triangle. In sum, we have a triple whammy here an error record to begin with (they corrected the time on the second pressings), an (at least) manufacturing error with no Strawberry Fields label, and a matrix number which is unknown (this makes the record itself a true variant). I have a lot of Beatles records. Usually, the kid that owned it wrote his/her name all over it this is nice example because its writing free and never cleaned or anything. It has some minor looking scratches/scuffs but looks rarely played and has really beautiful gloss. A one of a kind wouldnt matter much if it was a Perry Como or Johhny Mathis record, but this is The Beatles, folks, and this 45 is one for the books. From Wiki-pedia: “Strawberry Fields Forever” is one of the defining works of the psychedelic rock genre. Too bad it wasnt defined on this record What happened, Scranton? Record will be carefully/responsibly packed. Please see my listings for other desirable titles! If youre an exception, all you need to do is let me know and hopefully we can work together! Condition : Records may not function as intended per surface noise, defective playback due to manufacturing defect or scratches, etc. Most records are in scratched condition. See Goldmine Record Album Price Guide, 5th Edition, page 17: Its estimated that no more than 2 to 4 percent of all records remaining from the 1950s and 1960s are truly Near Mint (and the next grade down from Near Mint is VG+, where light scratches are present). It amazes me that the world of record collecting doesnt have an official grading company such as in the comic book field (they have CGC), the coin collecting realm (they have PCGS), etc. Until an official 3rd party industry expert comes along, record grading remains subjective and opinions vary due to parties differences in audio equipment, etc. If you have any questions, need more info, or want to set up a Preview appointment, please feel welcome to message me and I’ll respond in a timely manner. WOW WHAT A FIND! THIS IS A SUPER EXAMPLE OF THE RAREST YELLOW/BLACK ” 4TH ” LABELLED UK STEREO PRESSING WITH NO RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED TEXT, OF ALL THE EARLIEST 4 LABELLED VARIANTS THIS IS THE HARDEST ONE TO FIND AS ONLY A LIKELY HANDFULL WERE EVER PRESSSED BEFORE THE NEW COPERATE YELLOW & BLACK LABEL OF 63 LABEL WAS SETTLED UPON & STANDARDISED. AS SUCH THIS COPY ALSO HAS THE EARLIEST MOTHER STAMPER FOR SIDE TWO OF 1G (EVEN THE BLACK AND GOLDS START THAT SIDE WITH 1R) WITH 1P ON SIDE ONE. WHEN FIRST RELEASED THIS ALBUM WAS AT THE END OF THE BLACK & GOLD LABEL ERA, THE 1ST LABEL WAS THE BLACK & GOLD WITH DICK JAMES CREDITS FOR ALL THE LENNON McCARTNEY SONGS, FOLLOWED BY A CORRECTED BLACK & GOLD LABEL CHANGING MANY TO THE CORRECT NORTHERN SONGS (” 2ND ” LABEL). THEN WHEN THE NEW CORPORATE YELLOW & BLACK LABELS ARRIVE THE FIRST EFFORT (” 3RD ” LABEL) HAD AN ERROR IN THAT IT INCLUDED THE SMALL 33 1/3RD THAT WAS USED ON THE BLACK & GOLDS IN ERROR SO THIS SECOND EFFORT (4TH LABEL) CORRECTLY REMOVES THIS DUPLICATION BUT STILL DOES NOT SHOW THE RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED AND OF ALL THE LABELS THIS ONE IS THE HARDEST OF THE HARD TO FIND. EMI EVENTUALLY GOT IT RIGHT AND ENDED UP WITH A NEW LABEL STYLE THEY WERE HAPPY WITH AND IT SHOULD BE STRESSED THAT THESE CHANGES HAPPENED OVER A PERIOD OF LITERALLY JUST A FEW SHORT WEEKS. Some of the more valuable items of the same weight will also therefore show a slightly higher postal cost. Apologies again, this is not of my makin g. TRACK LISTING : see labels. MATRICIES: -1 -1 MOTHER STAMPERS : 1P 1G. VINYL VISUAL : STILL RETAINS ITS FIRST PRESSED SHEEN. SLEEVE: SUPER LARGE STEREO EXAMPLE, THE ODD CREASE AND SLIGHT BUMP TOP FRONT RIGHT GRADES EX. LABELS : EVIDENCE OF PLAY GRADE EX. RAREST OF ALL THE STEREO VARIANTS AND PRICED ACCORDINGLY, TRY & FIND ANOTHER. Please note that whilst I try to endeavour to adhere to strict RC gradings I will never describe ANYTHING AS MINT even when I think it to be so. However if I believe an item to be Mint. I will instead either use the terms Near Mint, mint minus, or in archive or vault condition. When I use these terms you know that in my opinion this is in effect a de-facto Mint grade. Dont forget to take a look at my other items. Please feel free to contact me with any queries you may have. PROOF OF POSTING WOULD SEEM INSUFFICIENT TO THEM AND I HAVE FOUND THIS OUT THE HARD WAY. EACH ADDITIONAL LP AFTER THE FIRST WILL USUALLY BE AND EXTRA G 2.00 PER EACH ADDITIONAL LP.
