Yesterday & Today Beatles 3rd State Butcher Trunk Cover Stereo LP Album. One of the best cover removals I’ve seen. Almost looks like a first state cover. A couple of small pin holes in top left, corner wear and some flaking on top & bottom is about all that’s keeping me from listing it in excellent shape. Looks like someone used some white out to touch up a spot on the top. No seam or spine splits. Comes with inner sleeve and copies of letters from Capitol. The record is in VG+ condition, as well. Beatles lp Black & Gold Please Please Me Stereo 1st UK press. This is the original first UK pressing of Please Please Me by The Beatles in STEREO 3042 with Dick James credits. The vinyl has only a few light surface marks on either side of the vinyl, and the labels have a few spindle marks, the very rare Ernest J. Printed front laminated flipback sleeve has only a couple of very minor laminate creases to the front cover with minor shelf wear to the bottom edge and the corners are showing slight signs of rounding. There is NO writing, tears, etc. The Matrix numbers are Side 1 – YEX 94-1 and Side 2 – YEX 95-2. On side 1 at 9 oclock it’s an upside down G and at 3 oclock it has an upside down number 1, on side 2 at 9 oclock it has a number 1 and at 3 oclock it has an R stamped into the dead wax area. So it looks like the side 1 label has been put on upside down at the factory, which probably makes this even rarer. The rice paper lined EMITEX inner sleeve is in Very Good condition with NO splits, writing, etc. Both vinyl and outer sleeve held at various angles in Daylight, Sunlight, moonlight, 100W Bulb and Strictly Graded using Record Collectors Grading system. Vinyl; Side 1: VG+ Side 2: VG+. Labels; Side 1: VG+ Side 2: VG+. Sleeve; Front: VG+ Back: VG+ Spine: VG+. The vinyl lies perfectly flat on the turntable. I have just played both sides of the album and despite some crackles and pops mainly between tracks, this easily grades 8 out of 10. All pictures are of the actual album for sale. This 1st UK STEREO pressing dates from the initial release date of June 1967. Stereo in 1967 was still being outnumbered by mono in vast numbers and so of the two mixes the original stereo mix is by far the rarest. It is significantly different from its mono counterpart. The stereo mix was undertaken by George martin and Geoff Emerick in April 1967 and completed on the 21st of that month. It differs from its mono counterpart; for example, Shes Leaving Home is mastered at the correct speed of 3 mins 34 secs as opposed to 3 mins 26 secs on the mono version, there are of course many other differences. Housed in its original and early fully laminated gatefold sleeve, complete with psychedelic red inner & unused cut-out. Matrix numbers: YEX 637-1 & YEX 638-1. BEATLES 1966 STILL SEALED MONO FIRST STATE BUTCHER COVER LP GORGEOUS! Beatles – Yesterday And Today (Capitol). 1966 mono original “First State” “Butcher” cover LP. This one never had the second (trunk) slick pasted over it. This is an UNOPENED Los Angeles issue (factory #6 on back cover). There are three “breathe holes” detectable in the front shrink wrap and one on the back. This sealed copy has a 1 1/2″ separation in the shrink wrap at the opening, where the yellow Capitol inner sleeve is clearly visible and another 1/4″ separation just below it.. Corners of cover are slightly “pushed” and the bottom right one is slightly worn. These issues are listed here for completeness, but they do not take away from the overall beautiful condition of the cover, which is very displayable. Includes Perry Cox and Rockaway Records Letters of Authenticity. First state butcher covers are extremely rare and sealed examples rarely are offered for sale.
