Holy Grail Partridge Family Screen Gems Records Shirley Jones David Cassidy
September 17, 2020 by admin
HOLY GRAIL PARTRIDGE FAMILY SCREEN GEMS RECORDS SHIRLEY JONES DAVID CASSIDY. The Screen Gems record sets, as they are now known, were records produced by and for Screen Gems and used in the actual production of The Partridge Family. Never released commercially or even ever given away as Bell Record promos, they were used by the cast and crew for rehearsals, editing, writing, planning scenes, even shooting some scenes, and contain ALL Partridge Family music used on the show from beginning to end, in special Bob Kovach engineered mono mixes very different from even the Bell Records 45rpm single mixes. In some cases they contain special material that was planned for the show and never used. Just two examples are a young Meredith Baxter’s brilliant Joni Mitchell-esque vocal-guitar version of the lost song Its Time I Knew You Better with we assume her playing guitar, which was cut out of the show. Theres also Shirley Jones singing Let Me Call You Sweetheart with Mike Melvoin at solo piano, probably planned for one of the many grandparents episodes and never used nor developed further. Literally less than a handful of Partridge Family/Shirley Jones/David Cassidy fans and even experts have ever heard these versions of these songs. No one knows how many sets of these records were made, as most all have long since been discarded and/or destroyed, and to my knowledge, no one has a set as complete as this one and one has never been offered for sale. I can say without hesitation that this is one of the most complete set of these records in existence. Theyve only been played less than a handful of times with the best of equipment and care to archive them digitally. Here is a complete list of the records you will receive in this set, as well as a near as can be guess estimation of what records are missing. I have been told by other expert collectors that Ive overestimated what is missing, mainly because it appears they didnt use the records as much during the first season and that some songs never appeared on record. That would be primarily cuts 1-43. I’ll Meet You Halfway (Record). I’ll Meet You Halfway (TV). Doesn’t Somebody Want To Be Wanted (Record). Doesn’t Somebody Want To be Wanted (TV #1). Doesn’t Somebody Want To be Wanted (TV #2). I’m Here, You’re Here (Record). I’m Here, You’re Here (TV). You Are Always On My Mind (Record). You Are Always On My Mind (TV). Rider On The Road (Record). Rider On The Road (TV). There’s No Doubt In My Mind (Record). There’s No Doubt In My Mind (TV). Echo Valley 2-6809 (TV). I Woke Up In Love This Morning (Record). I Woke Up In Love This Morning (TV). I Would Have Loved You Anyway (Record). I Would Have Loved You Anyway (TV). I’m On My Way Back Home (Record). I’m On My Way Back Home (TV). It’s Time I Knew You Better (Long). It’s Time I Knew You Better (Short). It’s Time I Knew You Better (Merdith Baxter Birney Version). Let Me Call You Sweetheart. Hello Hello (TV 1 Medium). Hello Hello (TV 2 Short). Every Bit Of You (TV 1 Medium). Every Bit of You (TV 2 Short). Last Night (TV 1 Medium). Last Night (TV 2 Short). God Bless You Girl (Long). God Bless You Girl (Short). It’s One Of Those Nights (Record). If You Ever Go (Record). If You Ever Go (TV). Come On Love (TV 1 Medium). Come On Love (TV 2 Short). Every Song Is You (TV 1 Medium). Every Song Is You (TV 2 Short). As Long As There’s You (Record). As Long As There’s You (TV). Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (TV). [Partridge Family 6-A-B Missing]. Love Must Be The Answer (TV 1 Long). Love Must Be The Answer (TV 2 Short). One Day At A Time (TV 1 Long). One Day At A Time (TV 2 Short). Something New Got Old (Record). Something New Got Old (TV). Something’s Wrong (TV). Take Good Care Of Her (TV). There’ll Come A Time (TV). Together We’re Better (TV). PARTRIDGE FAMILY 8 (One-Sided). I Wanna Be With You. I Was Running The Opposite Way. I Wouldn’t Put Nothin’ Over On You (TV). I’ll Never Get Over You (TV). I’m Into Something Good. I’ve Been Alone Too Long (TV). Oh No Not My Baby (TV). You can readily see from the numbers what is present and what is missing. Also coming with this collection, so you never ever have to play it unless you want, is a complete set of ONE-OF-A-KIND CDs that has, not only the entire collection in archival quality digital form, but also CD versions of the last missing record in the set, the one-sided record 9 that has the following songs. PARTRIDGE FAMILY 9 (One-Sided). I’ll Do My Cryin’ In The Rain (TV). How Long Is Too Long TV. I Heard You Singin’ Your Song (TV). Lookin’ For A Good Time (TV). Like A Roller Coaster (TV). When Love Is Talked About (TV). Where Do We Go From Here (TV). Workin; On A Groovy Thing (TV). How do these versions differ from the Bell Record versions? Many are the rhythm section and vocals only, with no strings/horns/flutes sweetening. Some are mere edits for time. Many others, particularly in the last sets, have actual endings instead of fade outs. Some have session singer Jackie Ward’s voice pushed forward to represent Shirley Jones on her closeups. Some have different echo effects applied. All of course are different mono mixes from the commercially-released Bell Records stereo LPs, with different instruments coming in and out of the mix. Theres an organ instead of the string and horn sweetning in Every LIttle Bit O You that never made it on the record. Entire backing vocal parts that were on the TV version but cut out of the record versions. As well as the 8-10 songs that never appeared on any Partridge Family LP. I could go on, but you have an idea by now why these records are revered by collectors and fans of the music, backed by the Wrecking Crew, the most prolific and talented bunch of studio musicians ever assembled and, for many, one of their last major studio projects before going on to other things. Because of many monetary considerations and a need for profit, there is not likely to ever be a Partridge Family box set complete with everything ever recorded, much to our disappointment. One day when our TV shows are successful we will absolutely be acquiring the rights and putting out a box set at our expense for all the fans, at a time when we will not have to profit from the enterprise and can afford to take a loss. Until that time, this is going to be the only way to get recordings of these songs, as well as have a piece of history that will increase in value, as well as pride that you helped the next generation get to hear, not only this original music, but the continuation of it. As well as more great timeless pop songs recorded by Shirley Jones! We accept all major credit cards via Authorize. Or if you wish you can pick them up personally. This is the only way left to us at this time. And please, everyone, download your Forever Family free CD. At our website, and also check out our youtube videos. When you have time. This is indeed a great sacrifice for us as lifelong Partridge Family fans and collectors, and only another fan and collector could understand. We are hopeful that there is one special person out there with the means to back our project and help the music continue. We trust that you will keep these records to yourself and guard them as preciously as we have over the years. You SHOULD have it after all these years, and we knew of no other way to reach you. Please consider recording and performing music again. _gsrx_vers_526 GS 6.6.6 (526). THE HOLY GRAIL OF ELVIS RECORDS-the ORIGINAL 5 SUN 45s
May 14, 2019 by admin
THE HOLY GRAIL OF ELVIS RECORDS——the 5 SUN ORIGINAL 45s. Guide to Elvis 45 rpm Sun records. At least that is how the legend goes. According to the folks at Sun, he came in to hopefully be heard by Sam Phillips. In late 1954 he was invited back by Sam Phillips to record with Scotty Moore and Bill Blac. The first hit was Thats Alright Mama. Who would have known back then to have saved those old Elvis Sun Records? Who could have possible known that they would become the holy grail of record or Elvis collections? Today there seems to be a frenzy to obtain an original piece of what is arguably the most important of rock and roll records. It is no wonder that there are so many counterfeits out there. This guide is designed to help you distinguish the real ones from the bootlegs. For what ever reason, there seems to be a lack of printed material on authenticating Sun records. My expertise has come from many different sources over many years of collecting. The Elvis Sun records were originally, it was thought, pressed in a plant in. And in a plant in. It is rumoured that there was a third release of the originals, pressed in. Which are identical to the. All pressings have serial numbers etched into the trail-off. The records are Sun #209 “That’s All Right” (1954), #210 “Good Rockin’ Tonight” (1954), #215 “Milk Cow Blues Boogie” (1954), #217 “Baby, Let’s Play House” (1955) and #223 “Mystery Train” (1955). The rarest issues are 209 and 215, then 217, while 210 and 223 are considered to be easier. The first four records have engravings in the trail-off that end with the number 72. The fifth, Sun 223, Mystery Train, ends with the number 20. Pressings, except for Mystery Train, have three ¼ inch circular. Push marks around the center hole, forming a perfect triangle, or Greek Delta. Hence, the name Delta pressings. These marks are not found on Mystery Train, nor on the. It is this lack of push marks that may cause original Suns from the other plants to mistakenly be wrongly identified as fakes or bootlegs. Also, misinformed or unscrupulous buyers/sellers have claimed that the 72 denotes the year of issue out of ignorance or to use lower prices. Pressings are identical to the. Pressings, except for the push marks, and the. Pressings, we learn , can be further identified by a tiny MSI stamped into the vinyl, supposedly for Memphis Sun Inc.. Pressings have a small triangle etched into the vinyl near the record label. All 5 records have been verbally guaranteed to me as original by Scotty Moore and D J. When I met them in 1993. Their words to me were these are the real deal. A lot of the information above came from them. The most certain way of distinguishing the original 1950s issues from subsequent re-issues is to look at the last two digits of the serial number in the trail-off———the72 on the first 4 Suns and the 20 on the fifth one. On the originals, the last 2 digits are approximately half an inch from the other digits. On the re-issues, the distance is doubled, to well over an inch. This is the most important factor in distinguishing the original Suns, NOT the push marks. But bear in mind, that not all sellers are crooks. BOUGHT AT DIFFERENT TIMES, UNTIL I HAD ACQUIRED THE SET. Holy Grail! The Rising Storm-Calm Before-Original Prep School Garage 500 Pressed
October 22, 2017 by admin
The Rising Storm Calm Before Original Prep School Garage Moody Rarity Remnant label, 1967. Only 500 pressed for students of Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass 1967. Condition: Cover is strong VG, intact, no split seams, some corner wear, seam wear, ring wear. Record is naturally worn, Side One visually VG- with lots of lite scuffs that do not effect play, plays strong VG. Side two is visually VG, with a few lite scuffs, plays VG+, the number 50 written on label with grease pen. This record plays and sounds much better than it looks due to the great recording studio and pressing of the LP. This record was found in a thrift shop near Boston for the low price of 50 cents during the mid-80s by a girlfriend of a local Boston punk / garage rock recording artist. I have owned this LP since the mid 1980s and have enjoyed many years of listening to this LP and must admit that this is one of the few LPs that helped save me during hard times of growing up in my late teens and twenties. Now it time for someone else to own this LP. The item “Holy Grail! The Rising Storm-Calm Before-Original Prep School Garage 500 Pressed” is in sale since Monday, July 24, 2017.
