A very nice Butcher cover, Stereo version. Cover has some staining , most likely from glue residue. Cover is very flat. Seams are ok , with slight splitting at the bottom of opening (see pic).. Number 5 on the back. Looks great and as I said , it is very flat. I have never tried to remove the stains. Comes with the record witch is also in very good condition… And inter sleeve that does have some splits. Some people are asking if this is a first state cover… I thought it was a 3rd state cover, but after looking at it under a light, it could be first state. The Beatles Yesterday & Today 3rd State Stereo Butcher Cover
An original Third State peeled Stereo Butcher Cover, jacket isn’t in very good shape, with a bad peel in the bottom right corner, a name on the top right, and the jacket is split along almost all of the sides (held together mainly at the top seam). Spine is unreadable, but the back cover is in relatively good shape. Record is in VG+ condition, play tested with no skips and almost no visible scratches on the whole record. Record sounds great but would most likely sound much better with a good deep clean. Labels are in great condition. Rare Beatles White Album Reel to Reel 1968 EMI Records DTA-PMC 7076/8
This is a rare original 3 & 3/4 ips twin track mono reel-to-reel tape from 1968 (DTA-PMC 7067/8) The Beatles Double Album, a. The White Album – The Beatles tenth album release. There are no snaps, or repairs on the tape which is on the original 5 inch EMITAPE reel. The reel is in excellent condition, so well looked after it still has the original EMITAPE sticker on the centre of both sides and the white adhesive strip which originally secured the leader tape to the reel. These can all be seen in the photo. I don’t have the tech to play this tape and so I cant attest for the recording itself. Note the plastic carry case does have some cracks similar to those one might see on old cassette tape cases, the wrap around white card cover also carry some damage as shown. Weight for packing approx 200 Grams. In case you can’t remember, the tracks on this album are: SIDE ONE: Back In The USSR; Dear Prudence; Glass Onion; Ob-La-Di; Wild Honey Pie; The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill; While My Guitar Gently Weeps; Happiness Is a Warm Gun; Martha My Dear; I’m So Tired; Blackbird; Piggiest (misprint – should be Piggies); Rocky Raccoon; Don’t Pass Me By; Why Don’t We Do It in the Road? I Will; and Julia. SIDE TWO: Birthday; Yer Blues; Mother Nature’s Son; Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey; Sexy Sadie; Helter Skelter; Long, Long, Long; Revolution 1; Honey Pie; Savoy Truffle; Cry Baby Cry; Revolution 9; and Good Night. The Beatles 45 Record Same Label Both Sides Wrong Time Unheard Of Matrix Number
Secondhand Record For Sale. Item : This isnt rare or scarce, its a one of a kind. The record is supposed to be a double A side single, Strawberry Fields Forever (A) and Penny Lane (AA). Its a psych record by The Beatles, so its very important. What we have here, at first glance, is a manufacturing defect I guess? , since its labeled Penny Lane on both sides there is no Strawberry Fields Forever label on this record and there never was. This is the first irony the double A side single looks to be a double AA side single! Ok, so the second irony is that its supposed to be Strawberry Fields Forever — Not Strawberry Fields NEVER! I guess it was made in Scranton on the Penny Lane aisle where the customer wasnt going to get the full bang for their buck. Wheres my Strawberry label, dammit? Its interesting since this was an error from the start the correct time isnt 3:00 its 2:57. As if these errors werent enough, here we have an unheard of matrix in the runout/deadwax. Discogs only lists: Matrix / Runout (Runout A): 45-X-45870-G4 11, Matrix / Runout (Runout AA): 45-X-45871-F5 #2. Matrix / Runout (Variant runout A): 45-X-45870-F3 #6, Matrix / Runout (Variant runout AA): 45-X-45871-G6 #3. But, on this record, we have matrix numbers ending in 870 F3 and 871 G6 #4. Its good enough thats its an unheard of VARIANT, but wouldnt that be cool if it was a different mix or something? In any case, I know this was pressed in Scanton because it has the triangle in the runout with the IAM in the triangle. In sum, we have a triple whammy here an error record to begin with (they corrected the time on the second pressings), an (at least) manufacturing error with no Strawberry Fields label, and a matrix number which is unknown (this makes the record itself a true variant). I have a lot of Beatles records. Usually, the kid that owned it wrote his/her name all over it this is nice example because its writing free and never cleaned or anything. It has some minor looking scratches/scuffs but looks rarely played and has really beautiful gloss. A one of a kind wouldnt matter much if it was a Perry Como or Johhny Mathis record, but this is The Beatles, folks, and this 45 is one for the books. From Wiki-pedia: “Strawberry Fields Forever” is one of the defining works of the psychedelic rock genre. Too bad it wasnt defined on this record What happened, Scranton? Record will be carefully/responsibly packed. Please see my listings for other desirable titles! If youre an exception, all you need to do is let me know and hopefully we can work together! Condition : Records may not function as intended per surface noise, defective playback due to manufacturing defect or scratches, etc. Most records are in scratched condition. See Goldmine Record Album Price Guide, 5th Edition, page 17: Its estimated that no more than 2 to 4 percent of all records remaining from the 1950s and 1960s are truly Near Mint (and the next grade down from Near Mint is VG+, where light scratches are present). It amazes me that the world of record collecting doesnt have an official grading company such as in the comic book field (they have CGC), the coin collecting realm (they have PCGS), etc. Until an official 3rd party industry expert comes along, record grading remains subjective and opinions vary due to parties differences in audio equipment, etc. If you have any questions, need more info, or want to set up a Preview appointment, please feel welcome to message me and I’ll respond in a timely manner. The Beatles Yesterday and Today butcher cover 3rd state Mono
This is an original Beatles 3rd state butcher cover. The spine is chafed but the seams are good. It is an Los Angeles #6 peel Mono. I would play grade the record VG to VG. The labels are a VG+. These is chaffing on the spine but the seams are good. These are the most difficult to peel because of the added adhesive. If this was a back-east peel I would grade it much lower, being those are easier to remove the paste over. Comes with a copy of the recall letter sent to media personal. BEATLES BUTCHER COVER BEAUTIFUL 3RD STATE STEREO PRO PEEL With TRUNK SLICK & MORE
Beatles Genuine 1966 Stereo ST 2553. Butcher Cover Professionally Peeled. This is our first beautiful Stereo offering in quite a while. These are scarce in this condition. Stereo covers are at least 5 to 10 times more scarce than their mono counterparts according to Capitol production records. Stereo was not yet in demand as much as mono in 1966 and far less were produced. Also, collectors find this cover most desirable due to the colorful dramatic stereo banner at the top. This is the perfect example to professionally frame with the removed trunk slick. This Butcher Cover package is a first time offering that includes the removed trunk slick in one piece and framable condition and a Scranton inner sleeve and Scranton Stereo record.. Additionally, you will receive a Certificate Of Authenticity and an additional package of cool freebies related to the Butcher Cover that you will find nowhere else. Please see the description section for specific condition details. Nearly all offerings seen on the net including ones claiming to be “mint” , show up with visible damage to the Butcher image. This is not the case here! Gorgeous and vibrant colors. This is an excellent peel with a first state look. This presents right up there with any jacket we have offered in the past with some minor condition issues but also still easily rates in the top 5% regarding quality of any peeled Stereo Butcher Covers offered for sale. Capitol factory pasteover glue lines/residue is very light on this. The glue used by Capitol in 1966 Stereo covers can be notoriously tacky and difficult to remove completely. This is an excellent stereo peel. Surely a cover that you will cherish. Please check out the up close photo for the great detail of this peel. Seams and spine are not great on this one. Several inches of cracking of the top and bottom seams with paper chipping/missing. Spine not quite as bad with an inch or so of paper missing around the word “Yesterday” which removed some of the print. Most of the other writing is there but there is an inch or so more of missing paper and another small chip missing at the very bottom of the spine (See Spine photo). The seams have been neatly and professionally secured to protect from any further damage. As a result, nobody should ever attempt to place a record inside this jacket. Back of jacket is clean with less than average wear , some light tanning and some discoloration spots on the very top and bottom of the jacket. Nothing unusual for a more than 50 year old jacket! We are including the Scranton Stereo record and inner sleeve that came in with this. Vinyl appears in fair to good shape with VG labels with some scuffs and scratches throughout (not play graded). Correct Scranton 1966 goldenrod inner sleeve included. The trunk slick is also included and is the exact slick that was peeled from this jacket and is in one piece and could be framed (see photo). Trunk slicks in one solid piece are not all that common in the peeling field. It should be emphasized that Butcher Covers of this quality and grade, especially Stereo editions, are highly desired by collectors and are genuinely scarce in this condition. This item is an original 1966 3rd State (Peeled) used example of the legendary Butcher Cover. This item is guaranteed to be authentic and not a reproduction or bootleg. Given the fact that this item has been professionally peeled and altered from a 2nd state (unpeeled) condition to a 3rd state (peeled) example, this item has condition elements that reflect the process of treatment of the item when it was glued at the Capitol factory in 1966 as well as conditional elements from the actual peeling process. These elements generally involve mild glue lines that were made at the pressing plant when the trunk cover was pasted over but also include some minor issues from the removal process. This is not a new item but a used one that has been restored through a tedious and careful process. We have contributed to television/radio shows, collectible books and have displays in many of the best record guide books including “The Price Guide For The Beatles American Records” By Perry Cox and Frank Daniels. In other words, we don’t send our Butcher Covers out to others who provide peeling services but actually supervise all work that is performed on the Butcher Covers that we sell. Our COA reflects not only the authenticity of the item but the actual chain of custody regarding the 2nd state cover and the peeling process. We offer professional packing and you will receive all items packed in archival quality crystal clear resealable sleeves. Thanks and Good Luck! WHEN FIRST RELEASED THIS ALBUM WAS AT THE END OF THE BLACK & GOLD LABEL ERA, THE 1ST LABEL WAS THE BLACK & GOLD WITH DICK JAMES CREDITS FOR ALL THE LENNON McCARTNEY SONGS, FOLLOWED BY A CORRECTED BLACK & GOLD LABEL CHANGING MANY TO THE CORRECT NORTHERN SONGS (” 2ND ” LABEL). THEN WHEN THE NEW CORPORATE YELLOW & BLACK LABELS ARRIVE THE FIRST EFFORT (” 3RD ” LABEL) HAD AN ERROR IN THAT IT INCLUDED THE SMALL 33 1/3RD THAT WAS USED ON THE BLACK & GOLDS IN ERROR SO THIS SECOND EFFORT (4TH LABEL) CORRECTLY REMOVES THIS DUPLICATION BUT STILL DOES NOT SHOW THE RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED AND OF ALL THE LABELS THIS ONE IS THE HARDEST OF THE HARD TO FIND. EMI EVENTUALLY GOT IT RIGHT AND ENDED UP WITH A NEW LABEL STYLE THEY WERE HAPPY WITH AND IT SHOULD BE STRESSED THAT THESE CHANGES HAPPENED OVER A PERIOD OF LITERALLY JUST A FEW SHORT WEEKS. Some of the more valuable items of the same weight will also therefore show a slightly higher postal cost. Apologies again, this is not of my makin g. TRACK LISTING : see labels. MATRICIES: -1 -1 MOTHER STAMPERS : 1P 1G. VINYL VISUAL : STILL RETAINS ITS FIRST PRESSED SHEEN. SLEEVE: SUPER LARGE STEREO EXAMPLE, THE ODD CREASE AND SLIGHT BUMP TOP FRONT RIGHT GRADES EX. LABELS : EVIDENCE OF PLAY GRADE EX. RAREST OF ALL THE STEREO VARIANTS AND PRICED ACCORDINGLY, TRY & FIND ANOTHER. Please note that whilst I try to endeavour to adhere to strict RC gradings I will never describe ANYTHING AS MINT even when I think it to be so. However if I believe an item to be Mint. I will instead either use the terms Near Mint, mint minus, or in archive or vault condition. When I use these terms you know that in my opinion this is in effect a de-facto Mint grade. Dont forget to take a look at my other items. Please feel free to contact me with any queries you may have. PROOF OF POSTING WOULD SEEM INSUFFICIENT TO THEM AND I HAVE FOUND THIS OUT THE HARD WAY. EACH ADDITIONAL LP AFTER THE FIRST WILL USUALLY BE AND EXTRA G 2.00 PER EACH ADDITIONAL LP.
