This is an exceedingly rare chance to own MOST of the rarest Nirvana ever pressed on vinyl!!! Nirvana was an American rock band formed by lead singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington, in 1987. Nirvana went through a succession of drummers, the longest-lasting and best-known being Dave Grohl, who joined in 1990. Despite releasing only three full-length studio albums in their seven-year career, Nirvana has come to be regarded as one of the most influential and important alternative bands in history. Though the band dissolved in 1994 after the death of Cobain, their music maintains a popular following and continues to influence modern rock and roll culture. In the late 1980s, Nirvana established itself as part of the Seattle grunge scene, releasing its first album, Bleach, for the independent record label Sub Pop in 1989. They developed a sound that relied on dynamic contrasts, often between quiet verses and loud, heavy choruses. After signing to major label DGC Records, Nirvana found unexpected success with “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, the first single from the band’s second album Nevermind (1991). Nirvana’s sudden success widely popularized alternative rock, and Cobain found himself referred to in the media as the “spokesman of a generation”, with Nirvana considered the “flagship band” of Generation X. Nirvana’s third studio album, In Utero (1993), released to critical acclaim, featured an abrasive, less mainstream sound and challenged the group’s audience. Nirvana’s active career ended following the death of Cobain in 1994, but various posthumous releases have been issued since, overseen by Novoselic, Grohl, and Cobain’s widow Courtney Love. Nirvana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Famein 2014, in its first year of eligibility. I have broken the descriptions up into groups of rarity. NIRVANA FLEXI DISCS—– These are the rarest of all pressed Nirvana vinyl. There was only one factory in the world that pressed these, and it was in Russia. I bought vinyl from a man that lived in Poland for a period of time, and we talked. Turned out he had a Bob Dylan Flexi. I had not ever heard of the flexi, & so I bought it. After seeing it, I wondered if Nirvana was pressed on these. As it turns out, they were! This man worked at that plant, and when it closed down, he was able to keep an assortment of presses. He said that the first press was between 25 and 100, and each additional press was the same (25 / 100 presses) but on a new color. Unfortunately, I found no record of how many were pressed of each color, or the order pressed. Needless to say I bought all the Nirvana Flexi discs he had… (There were not any doubles to be had)They are as follows. Something in the Way Picture Flexi Disc Clear Vinyl 3051-X. This is the only Nirvana Flexi Picture Disc!!! This Press is Exceedingly Rare!!! This is the Crown Jewel of the Flexi Discs!!! All presses are Transparent & Square I know some of the song titles are listed incorrectly on the sleeve; Im not completely sure what they really are because Ive not played them. The center hole looks punched at first glance, but this is from the press. There are small vinyl points that are there to hold the vinyl tight to the record player. They are all M/NM+ Unplayed! This Nirvana press is not only a political statement, but a clever piece of art!!! If you will notice.. EVERY possible variation is put into this press. It should be noted that side B label reads: Warning: This 45 is pressed in 100% VIRGIN vinyl to negotiate optimum dynamics. The color wax (For Puies) pressing has been aborted due to quality problems. This is why the promo set with the PINK Sleeve has the colored vinyl. Here is the story of this vinyl: Though commonly referred to as Oi! Kinnock, the full title actually continues onto the back of the folded sleeve. The entire title is also printed on the Side A label. The credits are wrong about the sources of the songs. “About A Girl” is from 1990.01.06 in Seattle, and “Love Buzz” and “Dive” are from the Blind Pig show in Ann Arbor, Michigan on 1990.04.10. Neil Kinnock lead the British Labour Party from 1983 until 1992 and began the process of reforming the party and moving it away from its hard left roots, which angered many of its traditional supporters. The red rose was the traditional Symbol of the Labour party. As you can see, the Blood Red Vinyl is to be the rose. This is the Crown Jewel of the set! °This Set was bought New by me.
