Whenever The Rolling Stones do anything, they do it with quality and gravitas. Having defined rocknroll in the 60s, The Rolling Stones entered their imperial phase in 1971 with Sticky Fingers. What followed is a run of albums that couldnt have happened at any other time, by any other band: the decadent excess of Exile On Main St, the Jamaican voodoo swamp of Goats Head Soup, the disco and punk-infused prowl of Some Girls. With each new decade, the Stones evolved while staying true to their roots, coming full circle in 2016 with Blue & Lonesome, a love letter to their first inspiration: the blues. Every album has been lovingly remastered and cut at revelatory half-speed at Abbey Road Studios, from vinyl specific original tape transfers designed to get the very best possibly sound from the format. Each album is pressed on heavyweight 180-gram black vinyl and includes a download card for HD digital redemption of the catalogue and includes a numbered certificate of authentication. Cut at half speed, these are among the highest quality vinyl pressings that these classic Rolling Stones albums will have ever received. Half speed mastering and pressed to a very high standard ensures top notch sound quality for the listener. Special care has been taken to create packaging to the same high standards, with detailed artwork reproduction for each album including Some Girls, which comes housed in the replica design including 20 cut-outs on the cover, while the sleeve of Sticky Fingers is presented as Andy Warhols original design, complete with a working zip with a hidden image underneath and Exile On Main Street comes with a set of 12 original postcard inserts. Abbey Road Studios engineers have been cutting grooves into discs since the studios first opened in 1931. In 2013, award-winning engineer Miles Showell joined their existing mastering team, bringing a wealth of disc-cutting experience with him. One of the artisan techniques offered by Abbey Road Studios that results in the very highest quality sound reproduction is Half Speed Cutting. This process involves the master source being played back at precisely half its recorded speed while the cutting lathe is similarly turned at half the desired playback speed. This allows the cutting head twice the time to cut the intricate groove, allowing considerably more accuracy with important matters such as frequency extremes and micro-dynamic contrasts. The resulting cuts have excellent high frequency response (treble) and very solid and stable stereo images. Its not quite as simple as running everything at half rate. There is an EQ curve applied to all vinyl records and by running the lathe at half speed, all the frequencies are wrong. However, the technical staff at Abbey Road Studios have had new custom-built filters installed which allow Miles to practice half speed cutting to the full on a modified Neumann VMS-80 lathe. What makes it so rare is the 1/1/1/1 matrix endings, it’s believed that there were only a few hundred with these pressed then the numbers started to go up making this one of the rarest most sought after Rolling Stones records out there, this would of been from the day of release. Pressed on nice thick vinyl, later ones are much thinner. It comes in it’s 1st press Made in England box style gatefold sleeve with printed inners complete with 12 postcards. The sleeve is in great shape. There is just a little storage wear/rubbing at the edges and corners, nothing major no rips splits or graffiti. One of the postcards has a crease and a part of the perforations on one has been detached, about a quarter way across. Other than that they are fine and attached. One of the inners has a small split on the stop seam where it meets the entrance. The records are very clean, there are a few light surface marks/scuffs on each side, nothing feelable. Just how this should be heard, very clear and crisp with great separation. There is just a little touch of surface noise on the run in’s and when there is a quieter passage again nothing major or distracting, certainly no skips or jumps. There are some spindle trails around the centre hole. All records are visually graded only under a strong light unless otherwise stated. Mint (M) Absolutely perfect in every way. Certainly never been played, possibly even still sealed. Near Mint (NM) A nearly perfect record. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. The cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable similar defects. No cut-out holes, either. And of course, the same should be true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves and the like. Basically, an LP in near mint condition looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink wrap. Excellent (EX) An excellent record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don’t affect one’s listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are “OK”. The label may have some ring wear or discolouration, but it should be barely noticeable. The centre hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play. Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. Very Good (VG) Many of the defects found in a EX record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song’s intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them. It features 11 of the Stones’ first album releases, a full color booklet and a Gio Disc that ensures steady, smooth perfect playing on your turntable. Albums included are: The Rolling Stones 12 x 5 Out of Our Heads Aftermath Between the Buttons Their Satanic Majestic Request Beggar’s Banquet Let It Bleed Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out Hot Rocks A/B Hot Rocks C/D Originally released by Mobile Fidelity in 1984 on the Decca record label by Abkco, this collection includes half-speed mastered 12 inch LP JVC Super vinyl pressings taken from the original studio master tapes that are in special inner sleeves then are then inside individual jackets that feature photo’s of the original studio Reel to Reel track information so it’ s like having them in your own collection. The collection comes with a certificate of authenticity and a lovely printed booklet showing the original album covers and some history/information on the collection.     The vast majority of the collection consists of rock and roll albums in VG+ condition recorded throughout the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, with a main focus in 60s and 70s rock. The most represented artists being The Rolling Stones (50+ albums) and the Beatles (60+ albums). Approximately 300 artists/bands are represented in the collection, many which are listed below under the Artists/Bands section below. See the Open House/Record Viewing Section below for more details. Previous Sales of Records Chosen at Random from this Collection. The records and sleeves range from Fair to Mint/Sealed, with the vast majority of them graded in the VG+ (Very Good +) category, see Goldmine Record Grading Standards. There are numerous factory sealed records scattered throughout the collection. Many of the records have unused posters, pictures, and literature that came with them from the factory. Almost all, if not all, play. In person this collection is stunning, every time you pull a record and think wow how is a 50+ old record in such good condition, you pull another even nicer one. The History of the Collection. My Father grew up in the late sixties early seventies, and throughout his life he collected records. He was a music enthusiast and loved rock and roll. His favorite band was The Rolling Stones. Unfortunately he passed away in 2014, and my sister and I inherited his record collection. Since that time we have safely stored the records. If I pulled an album that happened to be sealed I would post it on its own, which did happen multiples time. Therefore, we have decided to sell the entire collection with this post. The collection consists of 5000 12 LP vinyl records (about 67 linear feet, at 75 records per feet), Seventy-five percent of the collection is in artist name alphabetical order. The vast majority of the collection is rock and roll from the 1960s to the 1990s, with a large focus in the 1960s and 1970s lets face it 60s and 70s rock roll is the best! There is also a limited number of other genres including pop a lot of Michael Jackson, Elton John, etc. , country, classical, and soundtracks, but well over 90% is rock and roll/classic rock. If there was a popular rock band in the 60s or 70s, it is almost certainly in this collection, period. The Most Represented Artists in Collection. The Beatles take first place with well over 60 albums (possibly substantially more, this is a low estimate) many with unused posters and pictures, including a high VG+ White Album w/ Poster and Pictures and high VG+ Abbey Road Original Master Recording, see the pictures. The Rolling Stones take second place following closely behind the Beatles with well over 50 albums (possibly substantially more), many with original unused posters and pictures. Other artists substantially represented with multiple albums are: Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Doors, Alice Cooper, Led Zeplin, Metallica, The Beach Boys, CCR, Crosby Stills & Nash, Eric Clapton, Buffalo Springfield, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Aerosmith, The Ramones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Frank Zappa, Queen, Prince, Def Leopard, GNR, U2, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Alanis Morrissette, the list goes on and on. Following is a non-exhaustive (if there are any popular rock bands from the 60s or 70s not listed, we apologize as we almost certainly missed said artists albums in the collection when making this list) list of artists in the collection complied from a cursory review of the part of the collection in alphabetical order. Xander Cody and the Lost Planet. The Open House/Record Collection Viewing. The open house will take place in Avon Lake, Ohio, at my sisters house where the records are currently stored. Anyone interested in participating should message me requesting to come to the open house. A few days in advance of the open house I will message the address. At the open house potential buyers will be welcome to look through the collection. We will also have a turntable hooked up for test playing. However, the following strict rules will be enforced, violation of any of which will result in the violator being asked to leave. 1 Any factory sealed record shall be treated with EXTREME CARE and shall not be opened. No record shall be placed back out of alphabetical order. 3 Records, posters, literature, and inner sleeves, may be removed from outer sleeves with EXTREME CARE, and must be placed back in the outer sleeve in the exact configuration as removed with EXTREME CARE. Anyone seen mishandling a record, sleeve, poster, or literature will be asked to leave with no opportunity to explain the situation or offer any excuse, NO EXCEPTIONS. 5 No record shall be removed from the viewing or collection room. No large bags are permitted in the viewing or collection room. 6 Extreme care is to be used if test playing a record. 7 Additional rules will be announced at the open house which shall be strictly enforced.
