This is my personal copy of the original record. I bought it with hard earned allowance at my hometown record store in 1996 and I’ve had it ever since. Based on the information I found online this is the second printing (it has both the Zoo and BMG logos) from the original run. I don’t know anything about grading vinyl so I won’t try to do that but the corners are bumped and it has that circular pattern that old records get on both sides. I’ve included pictures of all of that. You can see the corners on the right side are poking through the shrink wrap but other than that the record is completely sealed. It’s on the shrink wrap, not the record itself. Like I said I don’t know anything about vinyl, I bought this on a whim when I was 14 and never opened it, but please feel free to ask any questions or request any photos in case I missed any important details collectors would need. It’s the same item and condition as before and hasn’t left my care since the original listing. PINK FLOYD: The Dark Side Of The Moon, UK Harvest 1973 1. Pressing with the Solid Blue triangle label. SHVL 804-A, SHVL 804-B matrixes. Complete with the 2 posters & 2 stickers. Posters are the rare non-glossy thick paper style, and the stickers have the simple’permament’ in red ink on back. This LP comes with the original black UK poly-inner. The superb gatefold cover is the correct’blue-toned’ 1. Pressing cover, and this rare example has the rare sticker. Please note that all later covers for this title have a darker more black tone. Extremely rare in this condition! VINYL is in stunning MINT(-) condition,’as new’. Very possible UNPLAYED until carefully tested by myself. Looks absolutely’as new’ and labels indicate 0 to 1 plays judging by ONE ultra faint spindle trace on each side , nearly invisible. (This 1 spindle-line is very often present on unplayed records directly from the factory). Vinyl is 100% flat and plays with perfect sound throughout! COVER is superb EXCELLENT++ , a couple of barely noticable crease lines on back cover near back spine, see pics. Great upper and lower spines, great back spine. From front one of the best looking blue toned covers I have ever seen. Overall, a superb cover for an incredible clean LP! BLACK inner is EXCELLENT++. A few of the mandatory creases, but no real wear. One of the very best I have seen. Posters & stickers are all EX+ to MINT- condition. All items are play graded and carefully checked. All LPs are cleaned on the Audio Desk Ultrasonic Vinyl Cleaner for optimal sound-quality. Please WAIT FOR INVOICE after all auctions are closed… Same charge for 1 or 5 LPs, or any number in between. 6-10 LPs will be sent in two packages at 30 GBP. Ll items or combined totals over 40 GBP will have the additional charge of 4 GBP to cover Tracking. Special UK-made extra-stiff-mailers designed for multiple LPs are used, even for single LP packages. The boxes are oversized and thus provide extra corner protection as well as great stiffness to the package. Addtional protection may also be used when found nessesary, such as stiffeners, bubble-wrap, extra corner-protection. I do not charge anything for packing materials. Is as close to new as a used LP or cover can get, unplayed or played 1-2 times at most with no visual signs of use on surfaces. Superb, almost like new. No marks, scratches, clicks, noise, or anything else, aside from possibly a barely visible and inaudible hairline or two. All minor blemishes will be mentioned in the individual descriptions. S also VERY nice, 2-3 light. Marks/hairlines perhaps, no disturbing noise, great sound quality. VG+ is nice with light hairlines, a few marks maybe. Producing an acetate record or more accurately a lacquer coated disc: The acetate is an intermediate stage prior to the production of the master disc and is used for test purposes to assess the sound transfer from the master tapes to vinyl. If a sound or mix is rejected then the acetate pressed has the potential to be a unique item as there are never many copies of acetates produced, usually no more than 10 and as such are highly sought after. The acetate is usually an aluminium disc that is covered in a thin coating of nitrocellulose lacquer that has the sound groove, from the master tape, cut into it using a “lathe”. They come in various sizes including 7″, 10″, 12″ and 14″. To the left shows the cutting head on the lathe, which is like a record player needle but in reverse. The sound is passed through the sapphire cutting stylus which etches the soft lacquer, by moving up and down, left and right, tracing out an exact waveform representation of the music. The lacquer is soft and thin and repeated playing of the acetate will degredate the sound. They are manufactured for one purpose and that is for quality control and not repeated playing. Next is the plating and pressing processes. At the pressing plant, stampers (or plates) have to be created from the acetates. Each acetate is coated with a thin layer of silver nitrate and washed in stannous chloride which is then electro-plated with nickel. Once this has set the two are seperated and the plate produced will be a negative of the acetate with ridges instead of grooves. This plate is called the “father plate” or the “master plate”, which is then oxidised, plated again and when set the two discs are seperated, this time producing a “mother plate”. The “mother plate” is an exact replica of the lacquer acetate that was originally brought into the plant and is used to check for any errors in the plating process. From this “mother plate” further “father plates” are created using the above process and these plates are known as the stamper plates as they are the ones that press the actual records out. This lengthy process is gone through as the stamper plates wear out after so many pressings and with having a metal “mother plate” on the shelf this enables as many “father plates” to be pressed as required. A superb Near Mint-/Near Mint UK Mono first pressing of. With the very low number 00001043. Millions of numbered copies of the White Album were produced, and to find a copy with a number this lowespecially in this conditionis very rare. This is by far the lowest number weve offered. The mono discs (with a unique mix, different from the much more common stereo pressings) are the earliest version, without An EMI Recordings on the dark green Apple labels. They are extremely clean, grading NM/NM and NM/NM. The matrix codes are -1/5/OM, -1/5/TT, -1/1/GP and -1/1/GM. All four sides play beautifully, without issue. The cover grades NM-; the number is stamped clearly and cleanly. On the front cover there is a small crease to the top left corner, a small and faint 3/4 x 1/5 moisture stain on the top left edge, and a barely visible area of very slight discoloration near the top half of the left edgeit looks like a bit of moisture got under the lamination when it was manufactured, almost like a puff of smoke was trapped, and it is almost unnoticeable. The back cover is beautiful, with only a diagonal lamination crease to the bottom left corner, and the inner gatefold is in beautiful condition. These are all minor distractions, but we try to note any imperfection. Overall the cover is very clean, and the photos give an accurate representation. Both black innersleeves are in EX condition, the 4 photographs NM, and the poster NM. A beautiful, very low numbered copy of an essential album. We grade all records visually, cover first, then disc; using the abbreviations M / NM / EX / VG with + and. We try to describe everything as accurately as possible, and spot check any vinyl flaw that looks like it might make a sound.
