Ultra Rare’Fresh Maggots’ SF 8205 UK 1st Press 1E/1E RCA Vinyl LP EX-/VG Nice! This is described as one of the most sought after records in the world by many observers. The vinyl is extremely clean, excellent for the most part with just a couple of very minor marks just visible and mostly to do with the known poor quality of the actual vinyl used for these pressings not like RCA! – I have read reports of numerous bubbles being visible on the surviving copies of these however this has maybe only one or two tiny blemishes and may be one of the best pressings that existed! The sound is loud, clear, dynamic and very fresh see what I did there! With just some noise from the pressing between tracks or at the end and then the odd pop when in play. This plays of hifi quality and there will be no upgrade needed from this You would struggle to find one to upgrade to! The sleeve is very good indeed, intact, glossy, great edges, nice spine with some unevenness and two instances of clumsy sticker removal. There is ring-wear to the purple rear of the sleeve that is typical of these. There are critical photos taken so please look carefully, this is a very low-hours record and this shows in the pictures. Picture 11 shows the opening edge.. The sleeve does look quite uneven on earlier photos (see picture 2) however looking at it on picture 11, a direct shot of the opening edge, it is clear that this is only mild. The sticker removal damage has left small areas where the surface print is missing, this can clearly be seen on the photos. There are some telltale fingernail indentations that can be seen in reflected light evidencing where the sticker has been scraped off. Not a great job and might have been better left.. However there it is.. It’s not that bad and the sleeve still looks very good indeed for the most part. Overall this is a great record. Super-rare, a great investment, with fine vinyl that is not far off Excellent and a tidy sleeve with some issues but has many strengths such as great edges and spine and great gloss! All records are play-tested by real humans so you have our expert ears at your disposal! Also all our records are professionally cleaned prior to posting to maximise their playback potential! Please see the following grading guidelines which I use to grade all media: Items will be described in the following order: Media/Cover i. MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc. FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler. CD’s are similarly graded though the Jewel case is disregarded in grading. The grading applies to the media and the insert. Cassettes will simply be described in their playing condition and are all tested. All records are sent out in twin wall’Music Max’ mailers with double stiffeners and will arrive safe and sound! The certificate of authenticity inside the book indicates that this is limited edition number 5566. The box is exhibiting only minor shelf wear and the brass hinges are a little tarnished due to age as shown in the pics. Otherwise it is still in Excellent condition. The special Geodisc alignment tool is included in its original box, the book still has the white paper cover protecting the front and back, the record sleeves are in Near Mint condition, and most importantly all 14 of the LPs are in gorgeous Mint unplayed condition. All of our second hand vinyl records which require cleaning are professionally cleaned using a MOTH RCM Mk 2 record cleaning machine. It looks as though it has never been handled. No scuffs, scratches, blotches or stains. No stickers, address labels, or writing on the covers or labels. No tears or seam splits. No wear to the cover or record period! Age of the record has nothing to do with it. Near Mint or NM , M- : The record appears virtually flawless. A very minor scuff and very little else can appear on the vinyl. It should play without any noise over the flaw. The flaw is very hard to see. The cover looks as close to perfect with only minor signs of wear and or age. Minor impressions to the cover (due to the outer edge of the vinyl resting inside) may be acceptable, however the artwork is to be as close to perfect as can be. VG++ : This record may have minor scuffs which are only slightly visible. There may be more than a few scuffs, but NO scratches. The cover artwork is still as close to perfect as can be. Some impression to the cover (minor outer ring wear) but no ink wear! Some slight creases to the corners, but not wrinkled and obtrusive to the eye. The corners can show white where the printing has worn away and /or slight shelf wear. No seam splits or writing on the cover, or taped repairs can make this grade. Very Good + or VG+ : The record shows wear and/or surface scuffs. The vinyl still has great lustre, but the flaws will be noticeable to the naked eye. If the flaws don’t cause any surface noise, the vinyl can still make the VG+ grade. The album will have a virtually clean cover, but may have small writing on it. The artwork looks clean with slightly more aging. The back of the cover usually gives away the age of the record. Flat white paper will be somewhat yellow yet no stains or mildew from water damage. Some minor wear to the seams or spine, but no tears or holes popping through. The corners may be slightly dog-eared, yet no crackly bends, defacing the artwork. In essence, a VG+ cover should have no more than 3 flaws mentioned. Very Good or VG : This record is a copy that is good enough. They are not really going to look very good, but it will still play very well. There will almost always be some surface noise when played. The fidelity should still be excellent, overpowering the surface noise. A VG record will appear well played, but will still have some lustre. VG covers will look worn and used. There may be some seam splitting. There will be some ring wear where the ink has begun to wear off. Giving the cover a look of snow falling. If the artwork looks snowy all over, it is less than VG condition. There may be some writing on the cover (still, no large letters in magic marker). It will look aged and more yellowish, but will still look decent. Good or G : A good record will look very well played, dull, greyish and possibly abused. However a G record should still play. It will have distracting surface noise, such as crackle or some hiss that is continuous. It will also have some loss of fidelity caused from the grooves being worn. It should play without any skips or any obtrusively loud pops or repeated clicks, caused by deep scratches. Good means that it will play with some form of decency, so one can still enjoy the music even though you can still hear noise caused from the wear. A G graded cover will have just about everything wrong with it. It will have seam splits possibly taped repaired, but only with scotch tape. No duct tape or masking tape repairs. It may have magic marker writing on the cover. In essence, the cover will looked virtually trashed, but some artwork will still be noticed. If the artwork is obliterated, it is in Poor condition, and the cover is worthless. On a scale from 1 (Poor) to 10 (Perfect) the above gradings are equivalent to: Mint (M) 10 Near Mint (NM) or M- 8 Excellent (EX) or VG++ 7 Very Good Plus (VG+) 6 Very Good (VG) 5 Good (G) 3 Fair (F) 2 Poor (P) 1. Here is a really clean copy of this Northern Soul Grail. If you are looking at this Im sure you already know what this is. It has light sleeve scuffs scratches etc. From storage but it still has a lot of gloss and looks like it was hardly ever played. It has light background noise which would probably improve with further cleaning. I hand cleaned it but it might get even better if you put it in an ultrasonic cleaner or VPI. I was too afraid to do so. Visually it is a solid VG+ or better. It has an almost unnoticeable super light storage warp but it is so light that I never noticed it until I was microscopically inspecting it. It is only barely noticeable on the turntable while its spinning. It in no way affects the record. It will be packed super well! Please dont contact me with ridiculous offers!
