Blue Note BLP 1560. 47 W 63rd NYC. RVG and Ear marks. Vinyl plays STRONG VG+, only a couple small spots keeping it from grading NM. Has some light superficial sleeve scuffs and small short playing lightly audible marks. Played it through twice and it is really an amazing playing copy!! HANK MOBLEY SOUL STATION BLUE NOTE BLP 4031 47 WEST 63RD DG RVG. LAMINATED COVER IS STRONG VG+ WITH MODERATE CORNER DINGS WITH 43 WEST 61ST STREET, NEW YORK 23 ADDRESS OBC. THERE IS A SMALL CHIP LOWER RIGHT CORNER AND A LITTLE ROUGHNESS RIGHT OPENING EDGE. BACK COVER HAS A SMALL CHIP LOWER LEFT CORNER. OVERALL, THE BACK SLICK HAS A LITTLE AGING DISCOLORATION AND A SMALL STAMP UPPER RIGHT. DOUBLE DEEP GROOVED WHITE/BLUE LABEL DISC IS STRONG G+ WITH NUMEROUS SCRATCHES AND SCUFFS, WITH A FEW BEING BARELY FEELABLE SURFACE MARKS. THERE ARE NO GOUGES OR SKIPS AND MIRACULOUSLY PLAYS VG+ BUT WITH CONSTANT SNAP, CRACKLE AND POP BACKGROUND NOISE, THE LEVEL OF WHICH IS NOT EQUAL TO THE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC VOLUME EMANATING FROM MOBLEY’S POWERFUL RESPIRATORY PROWESS. ONLY ON SIDE 2, 2ND TRACK (SOUL STATION) ARE THERE 3 POPS THAT EQUAL THE VOLUME OF MUSIC. I’VE PLAYED THIS LP ON MY MEDIOCRE SOUND SYSTEM AND THOROUGHLY ENJOYED IT. IT REALLY PLAYS QUITE WELL. RVG stamped & plastylite (“Ear”) symbol etched in the run out / dead wax. 47 West 63rd NY 23 address on labels. 43 West 61st NY 23 address on cover. Original white and blue “Blue Note” label. Original thick cardboard laminated cover. Vinyl is NM (heavy, glossy vinyl, labels clean and bright, just some faint feathering from touching inner sleeve). Cover is EX+ (VIVID colors, clean and bright, tight and sharp, no seam splitting, no writing, no ring wear, only an edge bump on right edge and light corner wear; owner’s stamp on back cover; please see photos as I’ve tried to photograph to exaggerate the minor flaws). A beautiful copy of a very collectible record. This record is from the estate of a West Coast DJ, record store employee, and lifetime jazz record collector who was actively collecting from the late 1940’s through the mid-1970’s. In his latter years, he became a hoarder of clothing, which eventually covered his record racks… Leaving the LPs buried, protected from sunlight (and use) for decades. As such, the records in this collection remain uniquely well-preserved. What you see is what you’ll get. CHECK OUT MY OTHER AUCTIONS (and follow me over the next few months), as I sell off the very best from this once-in-a-lifetime collection. SS (Still Sealed) – In factory-fresh condition. M (Mint) – I don’t use this grade. NM (Near Mint) – A near perfect, possibly unplayed record. EX (Excellent) – Close to like new with only superficial signs of use that dont affect play. Only well cared for records will grade out to EX. Will satisfy all but the most demanding collector. VG (Very Good) – A used, reasonable copy. There will be obvious signs of wear and the possibility of light surface noise between tracks or during quiet passages, but still quite nice. VG- (Very Good Minus) – Significant wear and marks and usually quite noticeable surface noise. G+ (Good Plus) – In the record world,’Good’ is not good! From here on down (Fair, Poor), we’re talking about beat-up records.
