    Led Zeppelin – 1st – VG. LED ZEPPELIN Led Zeppelin Extremely rare 1969 UK 9-track first issue stereo LP with Superhype publishing credit on the labels legendary fully laminated sleeve with turquoise lettering. The matrix numbers are not scratched out indicating that this is the very very first pressing. This copy has been loved but looked after with care & remains highly desirable at a very advantageous price – an unmissable opportunity to own one of the most coveted collectables going! See More Info for further details… Most items in our store will be better than Very Good condition (also referred to as excellent) – the majority of items are nearer Like New which is the equivalent of a Mint grading. [341231 – E04A – SI]. Released on 31st March 1969 this was the world debut of Led Zeppelin. The very first UK issue had this Turquoise lettered sleeve. The rear picture is a degree more brown tinted than the later orange copies. There is a noticeable grey bar at the bottom of the front image which characterised the Polydor pressings and was removed when they changed to Warner distribution. The reverse of the sleeve has the Uptight An Outasight credit that was replaced with a Warner credit after the Polydor issues. The labels have Superhype and Jewel Music credits under the tracklisting and the side one label erroneously credits the third track twice with the Superhype credit listing 1 3 4 and not 1 2 4. They are the familiar plum & red design with black fan to the right Made in Gt. Britain at the top & Polydor Records Limited at the bottom. More details on Condition: Sleeve The sleeve remains in very nice condition with a few laminate creases evident particularly at the corners. There is a small amount of laminate lift in places which is normal particularly at the spine. Its condition as a forty five year old album remains very respectable indeed. The front image is still very white and could easily be displayed. Vinyl The matrix numbers are 588171 A//1 & 588171 B//1 and are not scratched out as in later issues. The labels have some spindle marks around the centre hole but not to excess. The vinyl shows just a few surface hairlines and plays through without fault. THE BEATLES Introducing The Beatles (Rare original 1964 US 12-track mono vinyl LP pressed by Monarch Records on the Vee-Jay label featuring the oval logo design with the title & artist in small print below the logo & above the spindle hole the tracklisting and song credits are left justified and is not printed with Long Playing & Microgroove text in the run-out groove there is clearly stamped Audio Matrix and the MR logo Side A has the date 6-29-63 hand scratched and both sides have had scratched matrices; comes in a back pasted picture sleeve with tracklisting in two columns on the back) See More Info for further details on this scarce item… Most items in our store will be better than Very Good condition (also referred to as excellent) – the majority of items are nearer Like New which is the equivalent of a Mint grading. [650608 – E04A – SI]. More Details The sleeve is back pasted in design with the tracklisting on the rear in two columns with the VJ brackets logo centred at the top of the cover above the title of the album which appears in huge black letters all tracks listed are in a thick black print without any of the text missing. The front image clearly shows Georges shadow to the right side. The way this sleeve was manufactured you can clearly see a top & bottom internal flap. The labels are colorband deep groove with silver text featuring the oval VeeJay logo with the title & artist in small print below the logo & above the spindle hole the tracklisting and song credits are left justified and doesnt have Long Playing & Microgroove text. In the run-out groove there is clearly machine stamped Audio Matrix and the MR logo Side A has the date 6-29-63 hand scratched and both sides have had scratched matrices. Condition The sleeve is really nice with only some light general wear mostly to the edges the mostly white back has a little discolouration from age & and the spine has faded a little but all text is still present and readable importantly there are no rips or splits. The labels has only a couple of light spindle marks to indicate it has been played the vinyl shows a few light surface scuffs and the occasional light scratch. We have professionally cleaned & play tested and can confirm that these are all mostly cosmetic and displays no major deterioration in sound quality. This September Queen will hit the crest of an already massive wave a world-wide renaissance of vinyl and record players with the ultimate set of vinyl LPs, the complete collection of Queen studio albums, re-mastered to the highest standards of quality in both audio and artwork. Queen: The Studio Collection, an 18 disc theme-coloued vinyl LP collection to be released September 25. Queen always had a special fondness for vinyl, the medium in which they first began to create, around 1970. As a matter of principle. Queen studio album was offered at the time of original release on vinyl, even well into the era when CDs had taken over as the medium of choice for most of the public. However, the final two albums, Innuendo and Made In Heaven were actually formatted primarily with the CD in mind, with a longer running time, so the contents had to be edited down to fit them on to the two sides of a vinyl album. Now, specially for this edition, for the first time, these two albums have been cut at full length as. Vinyl LPs – four sides each making up a vinyl set that is complete in every way. The box-set offers many other special features. Most noticeable is the coloured vinyl: designed for collectors, each album has been given a different colour, in keeping with its original artwork, giving a unique record-deck experience. The colour discs have been custom-produced especially for this set, using new material technology which ensures the sound quality is uncompromised. There are more surprises in the box set; Queen II originally never had a designated A side or B side – but Side White and Side Black. For this new edition, the album has been cut on two separate discs, black and white, each with a custom etching on the reverse side, a nice bonus for collectors. The collection has been five years in the making. Throughout this time Queens production team has worked extensively on all stages of this painstaking mastering process. The first step was the tape research; locating and confirming the correct versions and best sources for all tracks. Plus five tracks on the Innuendo album, were improved hugely after the discovery of better sources during this period. Particular attention was paid to the original releases to ensure that nothing was lost or changed for the worse by reverting to earlier sources. Mastering: To ensure optimum quality in mastering the music, the Queen team asked a number of world-renowned mastering engineers to deliver their best efforts on the same three songs; after double-blind comparison tests, Bob Ludwigs work was a clear winner, and he was asked to master the entire catalogue for this project. Ludwig is probably the best-known mastering engineer in the world. His skills, combined with a perfect acoustic environment and the some of the worlds finest analogue and digital equipment at Gateway Mastering in Portland, USA, allow him to produce matchless quality in the final result. The Queen team were pleased to confirm his reputation, as well as fulfilling their own exacting demands. The original plan was to master everything straight from the analogue mix tapes, where available. But in fact most of those tapes, having suffered from the effects of time, were in need of some restoration. The problems encountered included speed errors, missing audio, newly developing clicks and other unwanted noise. So the decision was made to create new super-high quality digital masters, using 24 bit samples and a sampling rate of 96 kHz. All the restoration was then performed in the digital domain, and the vinyl was cut from these perfected files. All restoration was carried out with the lightest of touches, with a profound respect for the originals, and the resulting masters are undoubtedly the finest ever. The Cut: Of course, with the vinyl process, everything depends on the final stage the physical. One continuous modulated spiral groove on each side, carrying all the sound information which will eventually reach our ears. For this process, there was only one man in the frame: Miles Showell at famed Abbey Road Studios, London, has perfected the technique of cutting at half speed. Showell runs the source file and the cutting lathe at 50% of the normal speed, which means double the accuracy in the cutting of the groove, resulting in superior reproduction of the music via the stylus in your record player. Showell uses a beautifully maintained Neumann VMS80 lathe boasting cutter-head amplifiers fitted with custom designed RIAA filters. These filters have been optimised for the very cleanest sound. Showell started by cutting the albums onto acetate discs to check the process for every track, and only after hed fixed any sibilance or other vinyl-specific problems did he cut the lacquers to be sent to the manufacturing plant. More trials were carried out before eventually deciding to manufacture at Optimal in Germany. Optimal have an enviable reputation for audiophile-quality pressings, plus unparalleled capability for the printing and manufacture of all the elements to be contained in the box set. The Queen team worked closely with the technicians at Optimal in an exhaustive quality control program where test-pressings of every disc, in black and coloured vinyl, were checked to minimise unwanted noise. Finally, the finished results were compared with original pressings of the LPs, on a top quality modern record player, to answer the question: Was it all worth it? True to the final words of the song: Yes, it was a worthwhile experience!!! The 18 vinyl LP box set comes with a lavishly illustrated 12 x 12 inch 108 page hardback book which features introductions to each album, quotes from Queen themselves, hand-written lyrics, rare photographs, memorabilia, and information on singles and videos – all made possible with unlimited access to Queen’s own archive plus the personal archives of Brian May, Roger Taylor and some generous fans.     The vinyl has considerable marks. Visibly it looks poor. But I have played the album a few times and it plays much better than you would expect. There are some surface noise at times and a few crackles, but nowhere did it skip when I played it. It is well marked but there are no deep scratches. Records from this era were generally very durable. The cover is in decent condition. The laminate is largely intact both back and front. Some light scuffing in places. There are also a few light creases and some small blebbing to the laminate in a couple of places along the edge nearest the spine, both front and back. The spine is largely intact, with no real blemishes. You can use the zoom feature on the pictures for a closer look. It is certainly far from mint condition. The vinyl visibly, is quite poor but it definitely plays better than that. The cover is certainly much better than the vinyl to look at. Its a decent example of perhaps, rock music’s rarest cover. The very first edition of the debut album from Led Zeppelin. Turquoise lettering and the silver strip along the bottom. This version was withdrawn very quickly. But then you knew that!! Catalogue number 588 171. Red and plum label. Matrix number A1/ B1.
