First pressing with Dick James Mus. ” publishing credits on “I Saw Her Standing There, ” “Misery, ” “Do You Want To Know A Secret” and “There’s A Place on labels. First issue Ernest J. Day” cover with “Angus McBean photo credit at far right at bottom of front cover. Corners of cover are worn and back cover has had 4 of the bottom flap restored from another E. Side two label has some light abrasions near the bottom. Vinyl is in gorgeous condition with only a small amount of light superficial hairlines. It plays and sounds fantastic in glorious widely separated stereo! This is one of the finest condition copies of this album we have ever seen! Welcome to Steel Wheels. Vinyl 7 / EPs. PLEASE PLEASE ME. YEAR OF RELEASE: – 1963. Incredibly Rare 1963 UK first press 14-track mono vinyl LP on the gold print Parlophone label with’Dick James Mus. Publishing credits for Please Please Me, I Saw Her Standing There, Misery, Do YouWant To Know A Secret & There’s A Place, front laminated flipback picture sleeve together with the original’Emitex’ inner sleeve. The cover is in wonderful condition, especially for the age, there is some discolouration to the rear and some creasing to one corner of the rear flipbacks. The vinyl itself is simply stunning, yes it reveals some light surface marks and there is some light surface noise between tracks themselves but overall this plays out beautifully with no jumps. MATRICES:- XEX 421 -1 N XEX 422 -1 N. THIS IS A SUPERB COPY OF THIS MUCH SOUGHT AFTER ALBUM. I’M CONSIDERING KEEPING IT FOR MYSELF AS AN INVESTMENT IF I DON’T GET THE ASKING PRICE NO OFFERS PLEASE. All my items are graded according to the Record Collectors grading system. M (Mint): The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and the extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. EX (Excellent): The record shows some signs of having been played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. VG (Very Good): The record has obviously been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. G (Good): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc. F (Fair): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. This STEREO album was released on the PARLOPHONE records label (UK) in 1963 with reference number PCS 3042. Side One: Matrix detail: YEX 94 – 1. Mother Stampers: 1 G. YEX 95 – 1. Mother Stampers: 1 R. We always strictly grade our records using the Record Collector Standard (Side A graded first). The disc is bright, clean and glossy. There are several non-feelable. Both sides of the disc play really well, there are no sticks or jumps and just the occasional crackle/pop that does not detract from the enjoyment of the music. I have played both sides of this disc and consider that this is a. Example of a rarely seen album. This listing has the original Ernest J. There is some visible storage/age wear that I have tried to show in the photographs. There are’dinks’ to the corners, however it still remains a good example that is complete with no tears or writings. I grade the cover as G and consider it to be a good example. The’Emitex’ inner sleeve is crisp and clean and in perfect condition. I will provide further photographs and information if required. The album’PLEASE PLEASE ME’ was released in the UK on March 22nd 1963. It was The Beatles debut studio album. It is believed that in 1963 four pressings of this record were released. I understand the record in this listing to be one of those very first pressings! The first pressings display the publishing credit of Dick James Music Co – as displayed on this album. The album cover was front laminated and supplied with a polythene lined inner sleeve with an advert for “Emitex” cleaning cloths upon them. The stereo mix for this album was made at the same time as the mono mix, with one track on the left channel and the other on the right, as well as an added layer of reverb to better blend the two tracks together. This was common practice for playback on stereo consoles. All photographs used in this listing were taken by myself and are of the item listed. This record will be posted FREE OF CHARGE in the U. In perfect/As new condition. Sleeve and vinyl is used and shows only very minor (if any) signs of wear. VG – Very Good. Sleeve will have obvious signs of wear/damage. Very Rare Original, 4th press STEREO Vinyl LP. Parlophone yellow /black labels, with Dick James Mus. Publishing credits – see pics of labels for details. Year of release – 1963. Parlophone Records – PMC 1202 Mono Parlophone RIM. Side 1: YEX 94-1 / YEX 96-1 Stampers 1/OR. Side 2: YEX 95-1 Stampers 1/M. Vinyl VG / Labels : VG. Side 1 VG has a more prominent hairline and some mild scratch marks and has no jump or skips has little background noise. Side 2 is in VG condition, with some faint, superficial hairlines visible under harsh light. However, the record plays well throughout. To a very good standard, with no skips/jumps, just occasional background on some quieter sections and a little in between tracks. Overall, a very enjoyable listen without major faults, music powerful and clear. Original Laminated Flipback Sleeve /Original “Emitex” inner Ex. The is a rip at the top (see pic) with light creasing and a little edge wear/corner wear. The spine is still completely intact. All text, graphics and colours sharp and strong. The flipbacks are VG Condition. The credit : Printed & Made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. London can be seen in bottom right corner. The inner sleeve is in Ex condition, with no real faults to mention, just a bit of light creasing. All Records Are Strictly Graded To Record Collector Standard, Sleeve Graded First. / Ask Me Why. 1963 Oval Errored Label! Some people have asked. Why Is This Record So Expensive? This record was initially released on February 20, 1963. It is estimated based upon Vee Jay Documents, that only a total of 7,310 were ever pressed. There were six (6) label variations, some of which were released with initial labels that had spelled the group’s name incorrectly as “BEATTLES” which were later corrected. But in reality, finding any VJ-498 , especially in the condition that this one is in, will make you a small fortune here in the 21st Century. Two things to consider when evaluating a record like this – CONDITION & HOW MANY WERE EVER MADE! Knowing that only a grand total of 7,310 discs were ever pressed back in 1963 , makes this record valuable just by this statistic alone. When you consider that during the era we have now come to know as BEATLEMANIA back in 1963 and especially after the boys arrived here in February 1964 , you have to ask yourself HOW MANY HAVE SURVIVED, AND OF THAT NUMBER, WHAT CONDITION ARE THEY IN TODAY? The teens of the era had played these records to death, which means that most became victims of kids who paid absolutely no attention to condition. So if you have one like this, that survived not only the test of time, but also escaped the teens of the era, consider yourself fortunate. When you consider that most BEATLES 45s were pressed in the Millions, a total of 7,310 becomes a number that stands out as a mere sampling. So, the real answer is that anyone who possesses a record like this, in this pristine condition, is not about to part with it without making a fair profit since it is something that can never be replaced and frankly should be in a museum. How do I know that this record has NEVER BEEN PLAYED? PLAYED , and THIS IS ONE OF THEM and. Probably one of only a handful left in the world in this condition! It is highly doubtful that. AS SUCH THIS COPY ALSO HAS THE EARLIEST MOTHER STAMPER FOR SIDE TWO OF 1G (EVEN THE BLACK AND GOLDS START THAT SIDE WITH 1R) WITH 1P ON SIDE ONE. WHEN FIRST RELEASED THIS ALBUM WAS AT THE END OF THE BLACK & GOLD LABEL ERA, THE 1ST LABEL WAS THE BLACK & GOLD WITH DICK JAMES CREDITS FOR ALL THE LENNON McCARTNEY SONGS, FOLLOWED BY A CORRECTED BLACK & GOLD LABEL CHANGING MANY TO THE CORRECT NORTHERN SONGS (” 2ND ” LABEL). Beatles lp Black & Gold Please Please Me Stereo 1st UK press. This is the original first UK pressing of Please Please Me by The Beatles in STEREO 3042 with Dick James credits. The vinyl has only a few light surface marks on either side of the vinyl, and the labels have a few spindle marks, the very rare Ernest J. Printed front laminated flipback sleeve has only a couple of very minor laminate creases to the front cover with minor shelf wear to the bottom edge and the corners are showing slight signs of rounding. There is NO writing, tears, etc. The Matrix numbers are Side 1 – YEX 94-1 and Side 2 – YEX 95-2. On side 1 at 9 oclock it’s an upside down G and at 3 oclock it has an upside down number 1, on side 2 at 9 oclock it has a number 1 and at 3 oclock it has an R stamped into the dead wax area. So it looks like the side 1 label has been put on upside down at the factory, which probably makes this even rarer. The rice paper lined EMITEX inner sleeve is in Very Good condition with NO splits, writing, etc. Both vinyl and outer sleeve held at various angles in Daylight, Sunlight, moonlight, 100W Bulb and Strictly Graded using Record Collectors Grading system. Vinyl; Side 1: VG+ Side 2: VG+. Labels; Side 1: VG+ Side 2: VG+. Sleeve; Front: VG+ Back: VG+ Spine: VG+. The vinyl lies perfectly flat on the turntable. I have just played both sides of the album and despite some crackles and pops mainly between tracks, this easily grades 8 out of 10. All pictures are of the actual album for sale.
