The Beatles Yesterday And Today Album 1966 T-2553 Mono LP (Butcher Cover, Rare). The vinyl is in mint condition, first pressing, hard to find these days, tested and it plays clean. Only a handful of copies were produced. The Butcher Peeled cover is in very good condition. Includes original inner sleeve. The vinyl is made in USA. The original LP sleeves for Yesterday and Today were assembled at Capitol’s four US plants situated in different cities: Los Angeles, California; Scranton, Pennsylvania; Winchester, Virginia; and Jacksonville, Illinois. Numbers designating where the covers originated were printed near the RIAA symbol on the back; for example, mono copies from the Los Angeles plant were designated “6”. Capitol initially ordered plant managers to destroy the covers, and the Jacksonville plant delivered most of its copies to a landfill. However, faced with so many jackets already printed, Capitol decided instead to paste the replacement cover over the old ones. The new cover had to be trimmed on the open end by about 3 mm (1/8 inch) because the new sheet, known as a “slick”, was not placed exactly “square” on top of the original cover. This is a cool Canada Stereo copy of July’s legendary first and only LP that was released originally in the UK on the Major-Minor label in MONO format (with border psychedelic lines missing from the USA and Canada pressings). The matrix numbers in the trail-off end in -1A and -1C. This is even rarer than the USA stereo version as only a few copies were pressed in Canada. I separate the vinyl in its new sleeve from the cover after cleaning, and place the cover and the separately packed vinyl in at least one if not two plastic innersleeves that help protect against moisture damage d. Uring this cool records transition to your record collection. I use sturdy carboard containers with real corners and pack in an MLP-1 oversize box with corner protectors, or a regular NICE cardboard box with at least two insert stiffeners, and I place neon stickers on the front and back of the package indicating Do Not Bend and/or Fragile or something like that to help facilitate a safe passage. PLEASE NOTE: I WILL ONLY GRADE AN OPENED LP NEAR MINT (NM) IF I CAN GUARANTEE IT HAS NEVER BEEN PLAYED i. OTHERWISE, NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) IS THE ABSOLUTE HIGHEST GRADE I WILL ASSIGN AN OPENED LP. LP side 1 is VG+/VG++ with just one scratch on the second half that can be lightly felt but is audible almost exclusively to the quiet 30 second introduction of the last song (“3, almost 4, 6 yea”). Side B is VG/VG+ with a tiny mark (you have to look very hard to see it but it’s there) around one third of the way through the first song (“TUTA in the Moya”) that can be heard for around 4 or 5 revolutions and one surface scratch on song 2 (“Three tons of fresh thyroid glands”) that can be lightly felt but is barely audible. Cover is VG+ with a small, very light stain in the top left hand corner on the front only and a bit of ring. This is NOT a reissue, this is the real deal. This particular copy is a misprint and has a side 1 label on BOTH sides, making it one of the rarest in existence. Notice in photos 6 & 7 where the center hole aligns differently with the “R” in Boris. There were a mere 300 copies of this mythical LP pressed privately in Portage, Indiana back in 1975 and far fewer survive today. Of the remaining surviving copies even fewer still were misprints. I have scoured the internet for any evidence of another one of these mispressings to surface and have come up completely empty. Only 10 original copies of this LP have EVER surfaced and those were all standard copies but a genuine misprint? Most likely one of a kind. This will most assuredly be a once in a lifetime chance to ever own one of these pieces of Prog royalty. This is the kind of unique item that will show up in Record Collector magazine’s Most Wanted feature for thousands of dollars if it is ever offered for sale in the future. If you’ve never heard this LP find some sound clips and you will understand the reason why this LP is talked about with a hushed reverence amongst proggers and psychers alike. The arrangements and musicianship on display are on par with the legends. What was in the water in Portage, Indiana back in’75? All reasonable offers considered. I USE GOLDMINE GRADING. Dragonwyck on their own private label from Cleveland, Ohio. Less than 100 copies were pressed. Original concert poster not included. The vinyl is very clean. VG++/VG+ condition, a few light superficial marks. It comes in a plain white cover. The quintet from Cleveland (OH) was one of the most promising bands in that area, opened shows for bands as Foghat, Golden Earring, Edgar Winter Group etc. The mood of the music is dark, heavy, mystic and strongly influenced of the times´ spirit and the Hippie age, anything goes! Shortly after highschool in 1970, they recorded 7 tracks, released a test pressing on Pama Records in an edition of only 85 copies. Jim Morrison and The Doors brought main inspiration to their music, with the small difference; the songs are heavier and more progressive; the sound is not just dominated by great vocals, there are lots of freaked out heavy guitar solos and swirling Hammond B3 organ, which brings the individual note to the music.
