Synergy Audion (Electronic Compositions for the Post Modern Age) All compositions on this album were realized entirely on electronic sound synthesis equipment under manual and Microprocessor control. Instruments and devices manufactured by Moog Music, Inc. PAIA and Apple Computers, Delta Lab Research, Eventide Clockworks, Oberheim, 360 Systems, and Synergy Electronic Music, Inc. His album ships in a custom record box. This is the only way to prevent the copying and returning of music. Side 1 (Total Time 21:49). Orbit Five (1:01). Revolt At L-5 (4:51). Terminal Hotel (4:11). Electric Blue (6:18). Side 2 (Total Time 23:22). After the Earthquake (3:30). Falcons and Eagles (5:44). Flight of the Looking Glass (3:22). An End to History (6:11). Album Notes Audion was the fifth album to come from Synergy and was originally released in 1981. It was the follow up album to Games although this album has a more rock feel than the structured feel of the previous album. The album contains ten tracks although again no guitars are present on this recording. Tracks include Orbit Five, Electric Blue and An End To History and with all the albums in this series of re issues has been re mastered and contains sleeve notes by Larry Fast. Recorded at House Of Music and Synergy Studio, West Orange, New Jersey from January 2-June 1, 1981. Originally released on Passport (6005). All tracks have been digitally remastered from the original master tapes by Larry Fast. Liner Note Author: Larry Fast. Recording information: House Of Music, West Orange, NJ (01/02/1981-06/01/1981); Synergy Studio (01/02/1981-06/01/1981). Under the name of Synergy, synthesizer whiz Larry Fast made a series of albums in the’70s and early’80s that redefined the meeting place between rock and electronic music. This 1981 album was the culmination of a process that began with such’70s Synergy recordings as SEQUENCER and ELECTRONIC REALIZATIONS FOR ROCK ORCHESTRA. On AUDION, regarded by aficionados as Fast’s finest hour, the late-’70s Tangerine Dream-style sequencer rhythms of early Synergy are largely absent, replaced by a sound that owes more to progressive rock than to pseudo-soundtrack music. Many of the tracks here have a low-key charm, but at times Fast gets nearly symphonic in his grandeur, offering classical-sounding counterpoint and near-orchestral arrangements complete with electronic approximations of tympani. At the time of this recording, synthesizer technology was still in an early stage of development, and it’s remarkable how much Fast is able to achieve using electronic instruments exclusively.
