The Beatles last days as a band were as productive as any major phenomenon that was about to split up. On Side One , all four Beatles contribute with John Lennons hard rocking COME TOGETHER and I WANT YOU SO; George Harrisons SOMETHING; Ringos OCTOPUSS GARDEN and Paul McCartneys MAXWELL SILVER HAMMER and OH DARLING complete this first side. A series of long fragments edited together in a sweet form dominates. Songs like George Harrisons HERE COMES THE SUN, BECAUSE, SUN KING, MEAN MR. You can feel your energy level rise as you listen to these songs and when you hit the crescendo, they take you down gently. ABBEY ROAD has to be one of the great classic rock albums of all-times. This is one album that Beatles fans will want to add to their album collection as it shows what a force The Beatles were in rock and roll. NEXT ARE THESE TITLES & BOX SETS. JOHN LENNON – COLLECTORS IMAGINE COLLECTION THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY BOX SET – ON 180 GRAM WHITE VINYL – WITH THE BONUSESE OF A POSTER & ORIGINAL POSTCARDS. IMAGINE – After the harrowing. While the album had a softer surface, it was only marginally less confessional than its predecessor. Underneath the sweet strings of’Jealous Guy’ lies a broken and scared man, the jaunty’Crippled Inside’ is a mocking assault at an acquaintance, and’Imagine’ is a paean for peace in a world with no gods, possessions, or classes, where everyone is equal. And Lennon doesn’t shy away from the hard rockers’How Do You Sleep’ is a scathing attack on Paul McCartney,’I Don’t Want To Be A Soldier’ is a hypnotic antiwar song, and’Give Me Some Truth’ is bitter hard rock. Doesn’t have the thematic sweep of. It is nevertheless a remarkable collection of songs that Lennon would never be able to better again. It’s So Hard. I Don’t Wanna Be A Solider Mama. How Do You Sleep? Paul McCartney & Wings: Paul McCartney (vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass instrument, drums); Denny Laine (guitar, percussion, background vocals); Linda McCartney (keyboards, background vocals). Additional personnel: Howie Casey (saxophone). BAND ON THE RUN is generally considered Paul McCartney’s strongest solo effort. On these cuts, and elsewhere, McCartney’s penchant for sophisticated, nuanced arrangements and irrepressibly catchy melodic hooks is up to the caliber he displayed in the Beatles, far surpassing the first two Wings releases WILDLIFE and RED ROSE SPEEDWAY. The focus found in BAND ON THE RUN may have to do with the circumstances of its creation: Two former members quit the band prior to recording, leaving McCartney, wife Linda, and guitarist Denny Laine to complete the album alone (with Paul writing, producing, and playing most of the instruments himself). The album has the majestic, orchestral sweep of McCartney’s ABBEY ROAD-era ambition, with a wide range of style-dabbling, from the swaying, acoustic jazz-pop of “Bluebird” to the appealing, straightforward rock of “Helen Wheels” to the wiry blues of “Let Me Roll It” to the swaying, one-off pub singalong “Picasso’s Last Words (Drink to Me)”. Though it lacks the emotional resonance of contemporaneous releases by John Lennon and George Harrison, McCartney’s infallible instinct for pop craft overflows on this excellent release. At the New York premiere, Martin Scorsese explained that , the film took over 6 years to make and fifty people worked on it, while Olivia Harrison shared, I never imagined this film would get finished. It could not be rushed. It had to just sit. In the last five years we have what George would call, the support of nature. Georges true essence was so elusive and subtle. BOTH ARE THE TREMENDOUSLY RARE original repease PRESSINGS. ANOTHOLOGY II – The second in the series of Rare unreleased Beatles recordings covers the groups famed middle period featuring George Harrisons classic track 11 out-take of TAXMAN. “TAXMAN”, the opening title on REVOLVER was Harrisons acerbic and witty view of the inescapable realities of life. Track 12 was the Master Recording this being a reduction or bounce of Track 11. These are terms for a recording process taken up by The Beatles around this time, where, by merging two or more existing tracks of a tape while copying it across to a second tape, vacant tracks are created allowing for further overdubbing. Abbey Road was still using 4-Track Recording Machines in 1966 so this process was often necessary. Backing vocals instead of the Mr. George Harrison penned ONLY A NORTHERN SONG. Although not issued on disc until YELLOW SUBMARINE soundtrack Album in January of 1969, Harrisons ONLY A NORTHERN SONG was written and first intended for SGT. PEPPER, its place in the recording chronology coming between other PEPPER tracks, FIXING A HOLE and BEING FOR THE BENEFIT OF MR. The Master of ONLY A NORTHERN SONG combined Track 3 (with overdubs) and a reduction of this Track 11 (with further overdub), simultaneously mixed into Mono. The mixes presented here in Stereo and slightly sped up, is Track 3 the basic track from February 13th, 1967 with bass and guitar added on April 20th with unissued vocal tracks (yielding a number of lyric vibrations from the Master) overdub onto a separate reduction, Track 12, flown in. The last Harrison penned track within ANTHOLOGY 2 is the Master of George Harrisons composition that opened Side 2 of SGT. PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND, presented here in a fashion not previously available on Vinyl remixed, without Georges vocal from the different original 4-track tapes that formed that Master. WITHIN YOU WITHOUT YOU (instrumental) what remains, audible to the fore is a combination of tamboura, tabla, dilruba and swaramandal tracks recorded in March with violins, cellos, and Georges sitar track overdubbed on April 3, 1967. ANTHOLOGY 2 features out-takes, demos and alternate versions of songs from the albums, HELP, RUBBER SOUL, REVOLVER, SGT. PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND, and MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR. There are also three previously unreleased Beatles Songs from 1965, several live cuts and the second of The Beatles new recordings, Real Love, which began as a late seventies demo and completed in 1995 by George Harrison, Paul Mc Cartney and Ringo Starr. Yes It Is [Version]. You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away [Version]. If You’ve Got Trouble. That Means a Lot. It’s Only Love [Take]. Everybody’s Trying to Be My Baby. Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown). I’m Looking Through You. Got to Get You into My Life. And Your Bird Can Sing [Version]. Eleanor Rigby [Strings Only]. I’m Only Sleeping [Rehearsal]. I’m Only Sleeping [Take 1]. Rock & Roll Music. She’s a Woman. Strawberry Fields Forever [Demo Sequence]. Strawberry Fields Forever [Take 1]. Strawberry Fields Forever [Take 7 and Edit Piece]. Day in the Life [Version]. Good Morning, Good Morning [Version]. Only a Northern Song. Being for the Benefit of Mr. [Takes 1 and 2]. Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds [Take]. Within You, Without You [Instrumental]. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) [Take]. You Know My Name (Look Up the Number). Fool on the Hill [Demo Version]. Your Mother Should Know. Fool on the Hill [Take 4]. Across the Universe [Alternate Take]. This masterpiece has, as its real discoveries , George Harrisons 8 solo demos including the electric-guitar and-vocal performances of SOMETHING and ALL THINGS MUST PASS plus PIGGIES, MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS, NOT GUILTY, FOR YOU BLUE, OLD BROWN SHOE, I ME MINE. They nearly ache with beauty, and Harrison sings them as if discovering his voice for the first time. The finished versions couldnt possibly stand up to these demos which are among the highlights of the BEATLES ANTHOLOGY Series and the only time ever on Vinyl. If BEATLES ANTHOLOGY 2 was a study of how a Beatles song came together, ANTHOLOGY 3 is a study of how The Beatles themselves came apart. Mc Cartney was now an unabashed Pop Balladeer, Lennon a sneering Pop Humorist and Experimenter, and Harrison a separate song-writing force aching to be unleashed. This is a stunning example of Harrison coming into his own and his eventual release of ALL THINGS MUST PASS. Happiness Is a Warm Gun. Don’t Pass Me By. While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Mother Nature’s Son. What’s the New Mary Jane? I’m So Tired. Why Don’t We Do It in the Road? I’ve Got a Feeling. She Came in Through the Bathroom Window. Medley: Rip It up/Shake, Rattle and Roll.. Mailman, Bring Me No More Blues. Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. Come and Get It. Ain’t She Sweet. THE BEATLES > LIVE AT THE BBC > ORIGINAL COLLECTORS 1ST EDITION APPLE RECORDS 1994 U. Long out of print and you will be one of the last people in the world to own this piece of musical history. In their early days , the Beatles recorded many songs and interviews that were broadcast on British radio. For many years these songs were lost… Live At The BBC is excellent for Beatles fans. You’ll find many tracks on here that are not available on any other Beatles release most of which are covers. Artists covered include Chuck Berry, Arthur Alexander, Buddy Holly And The Crickets, The Shirelles, Carl Perkins, and many others. And many you’ve never heard them ever sing on any LP. These tracks are as follows: I Got a Woman Too Much Monkey Business Keep Your Hands off My Baby I’ll Be on My Way Young Blood Shot of Rhythm and Blues Sure to Fall (In Love With You) Some Other Guy That’s All Right (Mama) Carol Soldier of Love Clarabella I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Cry (Over You) Crying, Waiting, Hoping To Know Her Is to Love Her Honeymoon Song Johnny B. They were determined to amount to something in Georges words. We just had this amazing inner feeling of: Were going to do it. I dont know why… We were just cocky. That would do to be going on with. Six years later, they were the four most famous and musical men on earth, the best dressed and on a good day the most captivating people anyone can remember. The narrative that began where Paul met John and clicked at a garden fete in leafy Liverpool, and ended in high dudgeon in high-end London, is so far fetched that it needs the power of a song punctuating every page to remind you with a joyous jolt that it was all true. We didnt dream it… Though it came out of Johns dream of the man on a flaming pie who said. You are Beatles with an A. It did all happen. The whole wonderful thing did happen, a long time ago, on the Mersey, on the Elbe, by the Thames and the Hudson River. Amazing and marvellous and, overy fifty years on, forever young. Black Vinyl LP Set features a 20 page booklet with rare photos, liner notes, 6 page historic Parlophone insert for the launching of their first single, Love Me Do, and annotated track listing, all housed in an exclusive box! 140 Gram Black Vinyl. 20 Page Booklet – Rare photos, Liner Notes. 6-Page Historic “Parlophone” Insert for the launch of their first single “Love Me Do”. 18 Rare Early Tracks. ALBUM’S WITH BOTH STEREO & MONO TRACKS WITHIN BOX SET. Beatles’ Second Album Disc Two. Something New Disc Three. Beatles’ 65 Disc Four. Japanese Pressing of the First-ever CD Reissue of Four Albums Originally Released from Us Capitol Records in 1964 (“Meet the Beatles”, “The Beatles’ Second Album”, “Something New”, and “Beatles’65”), which Feature Us-original Tracklisting. Each Disc Contains Both Mono and Stereo Versions of Each Album. Capitol did a tremendous job with the music here. They did exactly what they were supposed to do: take the original American Capitol stereo and mono mixes, transfer them cleanly and leave them alone. These are all here, exactly as they were on the US albums. And for that, Capitol deserves applause, because frankly I’ve been disappointed with the Yellow Submarine remaster, and Let It Be Naked. I don’t like tampering. This box set is the genuine (American) article. And it’s worth preserving for what it was and is. The Beatles and George Martin both knew exactly why Capitol was releasing different versions of these records in America, and George Martin gave Capitol his stereo mixes for that purpose, after which Capitol added some reverb on certain songs, but the fact of the matter is that both Martin and the Beatles had no problem whatsoever with this practice. This new Meet the Beatles beats the pants off With the Beatles. It’s big and bold. The Beatles 65 material has never sounded better, listen to Baby’s in Black. No comparison to the Beatles For Sale CD. For those who really wish to hear a cleaner version of With the Beatles, you can have some fun by taking these new mono mixes in this box set, and reconstructing With the Beatles from the tracks here on MTB and the 2nd Album. You’ll make yourself a new version of WTB that sounds way better than the flimsy EMI disc. But I have to say, kudos to Capitol, they did a great job musically by cleaning up the American tapes, and then leaving them alone. International Buyers Please Note.
